why are nvidia users even reading this portion of the site, are they scared that maybe they got the wrong card?
tell me your take on this.
o wait, it is too see just how much their precious cards are "beating" the competition.
i am sure it cant be out of fear of the card you bought being "bested by the competition.
o, and i cant farm, its too tough for me, i prefer to work on servers and clusters meathead
do me a favor and just spend all your time trying to find "just that right driver" that was released today,
o theres another driver
and another.
y cant nvidia get it right???
i was very tired of changing drivers every game jsut to get the performance i wanted out of my 8800. it got mind boggling. look how many there are!!
at one time i have 7 nvidia dx10 drivers that i had to swap through , becuase it seemed like every game had different requirement,
the 158 was good here, but not there, the 162 was good here, but blue screened there.
and what about the fps to $$ ratio that nvidia lost too?
and how bout that alt tab bug that a lot of people are getting.
it made me sick,
so fire away .
or not
i am jsut a troll right? what point waht it be to try and waste time talking to an "ole farmboy" anyway?

Yeah I think we did buy the wrong product. Damn, I wanted a graphic card that could cook an egg!
ATI drivers are not perfect by far, especially when it comes to the latest releases. The NVIDIA drivers have almost always been on either the very edge of the latest releases. ATI usually issues a hotfix for these games well after their release (Lost Planet, World in Conflict, etc). And as far as overpaying for a card that was never ever reviewed as being excellent for higher resolutions, you have no one to blame but yourself.
He bought an overpriced 8800 GTS 320? That card has been shown not to perform at high res at 1680 by 1050 and above with AA and AF. Memory and SPs limited as opposed the bigger variants or 8800 GTS 640 and 8800 GTX.
And now he has a card that he wasn't gouged for but comparing to 8800 GTS 320? Something not quite right there.
Anyway my 8800 GTX is gaming allright at ultra resolutions with AA and AF in all games. But, it is only Windows XP though :)

The only difference between the 8800gts 320/640 meg is memory size. Clocks speeds and number of Stream Shaders are exactly the same.

Yes thanks. I am aware of that.
The point being, 320 MB is not enought to game a high resolutions with AA and AF on in latest games.

Microsoft finally issues a hot fix for SLI in Vista. Its been amazing listening to the ATI fanatics whine about Nvidia's drivers in Vista. I wonder how many more issues will turn out to be Microsoft's problem. As many computer makers are being forced by public demand to contiue offering XP because Vista has been so buggy.

Ah. Thought you were saying the 320 MB version has less Stream Shaders than the 640 meg variant.

"Yesterday the chaps at The Tech Report reported on an issue affecting a good chunk of GeForce 8800 users, where 3D graphics performance would fall into the toilet at random and wouldn't come back until you restarted the game or tabbed out and back in. NVIDIA got back to them and said it was a driver issue and that the driver team were working on a fix. Oh well.
Now Beyond3D reports that the slowdown bug is probably caused by texture eviction from device memory. Textures aren't being evicted when they should be, causing a loss of available device memory for other resources. So it stands to reason that if you restart the app or tab out and back in, both of which reset the device which causes a VRAM flush, you'll be good to go again. It's somewhat application dependent and depends on how the app does surface management, but a general fix should be possible for all but the most misbehaved programs. Let's hope they fix it as soon as possible."
personally, i dont like toilet being anywhere in the review for the card i use.
Must be a subjective personal preference.

yes sir, must be my fault. damn, should have read the reviews.
o wait, they were non existent at the time.
sorry guys that bought the nvidia product. maybe a driver release, or at least ten more releases should fix that, right?
wait, now its microsofts problem?? hmm
i have played a few microsot games that have that stupid huge nvidia the waay its meant to be GAy at the beginning

your card runs at the same temp as mine, ati 2900 never gets above 66 degrees.
and the drivers...ahahahhahaha.
try to stay on top of those drivers. just keep searching the web daily for the "magic driver" that will make you r card worth the money you paid for it.
o BTW, have you SEEn the 24x aa edge detect????
what does nvidia ahve to say about that?
now i can play every game at 16x12 with 12xaa OR 24xaa and not see the slow down.
damn, i wish i would have stuck with the nvidiots side...
woe is me.

When did I state that? I did not at once in this thread state that a 8800 GTS 320 card can beat a 2900XT?

i am just making sure there is a black opposite for all this white. make your own choice
You are doing nothing but a make a fool of yourself.
POst to the original topic please.
2900 for UT3...and nothing else.
If you want to vindicated or feel good about your purchse. Be so and do so. Just not in this thread.
A discussion as the reasons why or why not a 2900 would be suitably positioned to perform better in UT3 was being discussed before the thread was derailed.
Anymore nonsense, and I will delete those posts.

Nvidia cards has up to a 32xSAA hybrid mode which combines Super Sampling and Multisampling in single card configurations. In SLI, they offer a 64xS mode.
Here's a partial list of AA modes on G8x:
Pure Multisampling Modes:
2xAA
4xAA
8xAA
Coverage Sampling:
8xCSAA
16xCSAA
Hybrid SS+MS:
4xS
8xS
16xS
32xS
Pure Supersampling:
2x2(4xSS)
4x4(16xSS)
There are others, but that list will do. ;)

lol DO NOT trust the gamespot benchmarks EVER.... some of them show the 320MB GTS killing the 640MB GTS by a large portion for example quake 4:rolleyes: ... theyre just noobs who need to learn how to benchmark
