It lasted a little over a year ,but I started getting stipes in my boot screen ,and if you made it to windows ,you could'nt play a game at all ,it was like the 2D still worked but as soon as I would try to play a game it just went black and rebooted.I have got my RMA started ,Now I just hope and prey they don't send me a 8600GTS and call that fair .I want be happy with nothing less then a 8800GTS 320mb card.I would rather have another 7900GT
then any kind of 8600.It is a Signature Series so maybe they will do me right.

i think if you email them enough they will get you a GTS but you have to pay a little for it. I was getting artifacts but theyre gone now, odd, but no way am i going from my superclocked edition 7900GT to a 8600

I've currently got a 7900GT being RMA'd with eVGA now. I actually wouldn't mind an 8600GTS, awful memory bandwidth sure, but in shader intensive games it's quite a bit better thanks to the new unified architecture. Rainbow Six Vegas see's quite a good boost running on an 8600, and since all I really play lately is Vegas, BF2, and Source engine games, card would really work out for me. I'm probably going to get a 7950GT though, seems to be what most folk RMA-ing are getting, either way, a 7 series or 8 series, it's all good as long as I can get back to gaming! :D

Sorry to hear about your Signature Series though, if eVGA doesn't set you up with an 8800GTS it'd be kinda unfair. Chances are they will though, eVGA is cool like that!

afaik the 7900GT would simply rape the 8600 in every game

Check it out, doesn't do too shabby in Vegas. 8600 really does get walloped by the 7900GT in just about everything else though, lol.

Don't believe it would get walloped in Obivion and Stalker. In fact, I know it doesn't. However, the 8600 GTS is pretty well limited to 1280x1024 with high settings due the memory bus limitation.
I have both the 7900GT and two of the 8600 GTS cards.

Right, two more shader intensive games. That's why I don't think it's such a bad card, especially since more and more games are going that route.
