View Full Version : Bad (?) performance

Heya guys.

Lately I've been wondering if I shouldn't have better performance than I do with my gear.

I've done some benchmarks, perhaps someone who knows could see if they're resonable.

I have a E6700 dual core @ 2.67 Ghz (stock), a XFX 8800 GTS 640mb (also stock clocks), and 2 gig ram.

I get an average of 63 fps on CoH, @ 1280x1024, all settings max, DX9.
I get an average of about 79 fps on the CSS stress test.
I got 7797 points on 3dmark 06.

This to me seems low, even for Vista. Can someone help me?

Thanks :)

EDIT: Forgot to say, I use the 158.45 drivers.

Try to use the Forceware 163.11 Beta or the 162.22 WHQL. You can download the driver by station-drivers or guru3d. IMO i think 4 me the 163.11 have a goog performance and a nice CP settings (HDR ect.).

Seems about right for a GTS.

I get about 10,550 with one of my GTX's and a 6800 (both stock) . Your scores might be a touch low - but not tragic I wouldn't think

Latest BIOS installed?
Intel cpu microcode reliability update for vista installed?
Latest drivers for motherboard chipset installed?
Latest sound card drivers?
what type of RAM you have? DDR-800?

I get 8065 3dmark06 score on a core2duo e6420 with a 8800gts 640mb. Stock clocks on all. 2GB of DDR-800 RAM Dual Channel

I'm not sure about all of those, but I'm pretty sure I have it all updated.
Sound drivers I know are the latest, BIOS is probably the latest. I think I've got the intel update.
Motherboard chipset drivers might not be updated, but how much difference can that make?

Yup, DDR 800, Corsair. 6400C4.

So, you get ~300 points more than me with a slower CPU. I don't suppose CP settings make any difference in 3dMark, right?
What else could it be?
Thanks for the help :)

I've brought the cpu clock up to 3,0 Ghz from the stock 2,67.
Together with nerfing the CP settings that takes me to 8843, but that's still way to low I reckon.

Any ideas out there?

I usually average around 7200 or so with my athlon clocked at 2.4Ghz. Mine may be a touch low, but my games run pretty smoothly at good settings.

Just my humble opinion though - screw 3dmark. If your games are fine and your rig is stable..just use game benchies. They'll be much more indicative of where your rig is really at.

Yeah, grey, I couldn't agree more.
But the thing is, I notice lower performance in the game benchmarks too, or at least what I think is sub-par performance.
I was hoping that someone with similar gear could run the two I mentioned in the original post and tell me what they get.
Thanks for the reply man :)

Not bad for stock clock speeds, I score 9,600 with a amd 4800 o/c to 2.9 gigs and a bfg 8800 gts clocked at 630/1800

Your motherboard is which brand, model?
