Greetings all! I have a quick question. I am about to install the driver but I am reading the readme and it says that "You should set your default run level so you will boot to a vga console and not boot directly into X"
I have Red Hat 8. How do I change this? Thanks a billion!

edit /etc/inittab
change from runmode 5 to runmode 3
It's right at the top of that file.

Thx. I really appreciate it. Now all I have to do is figure out how to install the kernal source rpm since I have red hat :-).
BTW, I don't know if we're reading the same readme. The one I have printed out mentions the /etc/inittab file but not which setting to change. This probably was a simple question but I'm a raw N00b. I apologize for the inconvience.

You should install your kernel-source rpm with 'rpm -Uvh yourkernelsourcerpm.rpm', where yourkernelsourcerpm.rpm is the real name of your kernel-source rpm.
hmm... i've typed rpm way too many times in this message.

The nvidia readme isn't going to have anything about X's runlevel in it. That information would be on an XFree86 manual/document page.
If you have redhat, the kernel source files are easy to install. Just go into your package manager and select kernel development, (mine-as-well toss X and gnome development checks in too, it may make it easier for you down the road)
