Well, I found this today and im going to begin using it
I'll keep Mozilla on as a backup, but if everything goes well with this build, i may switch once all the kinks are out
So far so good for me
it looks just the same really
and it seems a little faster than mozilla
Download link for Alhpa 7: (the page is there, but no dl link as of yet. so alpha 6 is the latest version running)
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/3.0a7/releasenotes/#download
So here is the link for 6:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/granparadiso/alpha6/win32/en-US/Gran%20Paradiso%20Alpha%206.exe
Yah, it's relatively stable and a hell of a lot sharper than Safari.
I just wish they would adopt IE's tab management along with using their own little tools.
It would make things so much better.

Alpha 7 seems to be out as well
Edit:
The page is up, but the dl link is not there yet...odd
hopefully they get the themes running soon
Themes work, just not like they are on FF2. I get random spaces and things on the Vista themes I am using.
I still don't get why Gran Paradisio and FF2 don't have regular vista-esque themes going as one of the default options :(
I am just happy the hide-filemenu/alt-tab thinger I use works :D

I cant get the theme i used on ff to work with gp
Notice the themes?
See that extra thickness on the toolbar in GP? That's about the only bug. Oh and I can't use the all-in-one sidebar :(
I LOVE that thing. I wish IE and FF would both adopt it as default.

I am giving it a try at the moment. It seems strangely exactly the same as FF2. Am I missing something???:bleh:
It's a little faster and try this on for size :)
Have 2 instances open and drag a tab from one to the other
I don't think FF3 at the moment is a ground-breaking effort as much as a more efficient/better featured version of an already decent effort.
Frankly, FF2 sucks donkey balls without extensions and major tweakage to it and FF3 is a lot better, stock, than FF2.
Still, for out the box performance and features, I think Opera has it beat and IE is better too.
Honestly speaking however, how often does anyone move a tab from one window to another? I very rarely have multiple browsers open and if I do, it's usually FF and IE, not both instances of the same browser.

No. Mozilla Firefox was primarily designed as a browser that should compete with Internet Explorer 6.0. Get Opera if you want a pro browser.
Opera (http://www.opera.com/) is a brilliant browser, which does everything you need. Trying to close the gap between Firefox and Opera functionality, I had to search for and install these 24 Firefox extensions, and it still is not as functional as Opera, and performs very slowly even on my quadcore CPU and 4GB of RAM:
http://hulan.info/media/firefox-opera/mozilla-firefox-extensions.png
Firefox extensions are not tested as a complete package (unlike Opera), they come from various independent developers, and can completely break the browser or another extension. They are also huge (potential) security risk, you never know if some extension is not sending out your credit card info.
I understand why people choose Firefox. It resembles primitive IE6 interface and is thus "easy" to use. It is well-known to them. But if you are a pro, and value privacy, speed and security, Firefox does not seem to be a good choice. You have to spend hours configuring it, and despite that you will (never) reach Opera functionality, speed and security.

The only thing i see about Opera that might be iffy is the torrent download. Will that override my current utorrent program?
Is it a faster client than utorrent?
Are you allowed to configure it? (as in setting the listening port, and connections)

You can disable integrated BitTorrent in Opera (that is what I do), it is no way near uTorrent functionality.

Could you explain how?

Im using GP as my default now, its running very smooth
But Im giving Opera a chance as well...
Opera, so far...is very fast. I love the layout, and the skin i am running right now makes it look like the browser is hardly there. I can see a TON of the page i am viewing, and i love it.
There are a lot of features as well.
I doubt ill use the widgets, i dont really have a major need for them with sidebar running.
I love the speed-dial page as well, as soon as i open Opera, it goes to that, and I have my 9 favorite sites right there. I love it.
This may replace GP for me...in time...

It is so much faster than ff for me
I just need to figure out how to disable the automatic torrent download
I prefer my utorrent over opera's

Could you explain how?
Go to Preferences / Advanced / Download, uncheck "hide file types opened by Opera", search for "torrent" and select "edit" and "open with other application", than select uTorrent here.
My Opera:

Also browse this website, it has tons of Opera info: http://operawiki.info/Opera
Try also pressing "Ctrl+B" :-)

Thanks alot, now i can set it as my default browser :D
Opera was my default for exactly 2 weeks.
Back to FF as my default right after that :)
Integrated extensions within the shell of the browser would have been great.
