NVIDIA is also going to launch their next generation PCI Express 2.0 SLI chipsets for both Intel and AMD processors together with the next generation enthusiast GPUs known as G92 in November. There are C73 and C72 chipsets for Intel supporting 45nm Yorkfield and Wolfdale processors and MCP72 for AMD supporting AM2+ Phenom processors. The main difference between C73 and C72 is the support of higher FSB and memory type where C73 supports 1600FSB and DDR3-1600 and C72 supports 1333FSB and DDR2-1066/800.
There are 2 variants to each series of SLI chipset; XE and P where XE supports 3 x16 SLI priced at US$150+ and P supports 2 x8 SLI priced at US$100-120. Only MCP72 series can support Hybrid SLI. C72 early samples will be available to customers by end of July where mass production slated for October. MCP72 early samples will be available by August with MP targeted for November. C73 will arrive later where early samples targeted for November and mass production in December. So we can expect MCP72 and C72 to be on target for launch together with G92 in November.

I thought G92 will be the mainstream GPU. Anyway, I don't care about the name as long there is a true highend part ;)
Hopefully they'll improve their chipsets this time around!
il selling my ultra in november and buying a g92 and a amd cpu qcore

Maybe the 8800 line will drop and I'll be able to get one...or two! With 320MB's already at the 200 range, the price drop will maybe let me get 2 320MB's than a 640MB :drooling:

They will still be bottlenecked at higher res.
can't wait to see some numbers. money is in the bank just waiting to spent on this stuff.

Same :)
I hope the following specs are right:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/discussion/3932.html
The codename for the chip will be "G92" and NOT "G90" as previously expected.
I got the following data from an NVIDIA insider.
"G92" NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX Specs:
- 65nm process technology at TSMC.
- Over one billion transistors.
- Second Generation "Unified Shader Architecture".
- Double Precsion support (FP64).
- Improved Anti-Aliasing and AF.
- Native GPGPU design (under the "CUDA 2" program).
- Over one TeraFLOP of shader processing power.
- MADD+ADD Shader Units (2+1 =3 FLOPs) per shader Operation.
- 512-bit Memory Inteface.
- 1024MB GDDR4 of Graphics Memory.
- DirectX 10.1 Support
- OpenGL 3.0 Support
PROS : 65nm allows for the GeForce 9800 GTX to be cheaper to produce and keep the chip cooler. Power Consunption will be LOWER than that of a GeForce 8800 GTX/Ultra
GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faser than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world benchmarks and games.
price for GeForce 9800 GTX will be somehwhere in the 549-649 USD range.
There will be 2 SKUs at launch : the 9800 GTX and a 9800 GTS.
both will be released a little before Xmas on November 2007.
Single card setup will be enough for me at 1920x1200 if it's over twice as fast as a 8800 U.

Bye Bye AMD/ATI. That's gonna be end of ATI/AMD graphic department. I think AMD bought ATI namely for integrated graphic chip and mobile video solution.

Nice...GTX for me.
I hope this is all true, update my PC give the wife my stuff and finally get rid of my CRT monitor for a 24" flat screen.

HOLY JESUS, EFF THE 320MB SLI!! I'm gonna bag myself a 9800GTX! And since my birthday is on the 23rd of November, the ending of the month and Christmas right around the corner, I can hold on to my money!!

Oh man those rumored specs look insane, I just hope it's true :D
I'm not going SLI again unless there is support on Intel boards. But with those horsepower a single card setup is more than enough for 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. Can't wait :D
But that post is from May 07. Not so sure about those specs. Because there was a time where everyone was talking about G90 as the highend GPU. After that it was suddenly G92 (around the May timeframe). And AFAIK there was another rumor that G92 will be the midrange GPU and G90 the highend part... mh...
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! Twice the power for less money :captnkill:
Lets hope the drivers are FULLY sorted by then, eh!
Wow. Crysis, Bioshock, UT3, CoD4, Orange Box, the list goes on, and a 9800GTX to play em on. It's gonna be a hell of a Q4 guys. There's gonna be enough gaming to keep me in for months, LOL.
Looks like I'll be doin' some upgrades again at the usual time of the year...tax time. :D Guess I'll give my wife my current card and sell her 7900GT. ;)
Double precision FP64 it's ok for CUDA (actually es really needed)
But should be used for grafics?
HDR at 256 bits?
A bit overkill :p
maybe for film rendering ...
GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world benchmarks and games. I'll go ahead and be the first to say that I doubt it will truly be 2x the performance. I predict a 40% gain over the 8800 Ultra.
P.S. = I really do hope I'm wrong. :)
I dunno where those specs come from. How legit are they? Or is that a guestimate based on NV's recent comments?

have they commented on anything yet?
/retsam crosses fingers for a SLI span tech in the g92!!

I think they hinted that next gen would be twice the gflop processing power over g80...I think...somewhere...inkwell?

Yeah but G90/G92 isn't a refresh ;)
