The yellow jersey wearer, Rasmussen, was yanked from the Tour de France after failing internal team rules regarding the testing for drugs. He is but one of several riders caught for using banned chemicals.

I say well done to the team directors and event organizers. It's about time that no effort is spared to stomp out this foul practice. It shouldn't be just eradicated from the sport, it should be crushed like a bug ... fast!!!

This sport has lost it's glamour.

Almost all pro sports are in the crapper with scandals right now. It's a damn shame. :thumbdwn:

My thoughts exactly.:(

Golf is not though. I really watching Tiger Woods play. Steroid scandal in Golf? I don't think so Gary Player. Dang that guy likes to run his mouth just to get attention.

I actually played soccer on Gary Player's ranch in South Africa about 5 years ago...but thats a totally different story.:)

Believe it or not even golf is littered with players using peformance enhancing drugs. It's just that nobody is tested for it in golf since the general assumption is that a slightly enhanced athletic performance plays a negligable part in a game that is in essence a game of focus and concentration.

How can you say that?

His ranch in Colesberg? Cool. I would like to meet Gary Player one day.

Yep the one in Colesberg.:D Fun times! The ranch is so big it has an elementary school for the children whose parents work on the ranch.

What I mean to say is I don't think Player's have strong foundation since he say he knows someday that knows somebody that took them.

Anyway here are some reactions to Gary's comments on steroids:

None of the top players concurred with Player.

"He knows two [players]? I know zero," six-time major winner Nick Faldo said. "Never heard of anybody."

Tiger Woods, who last year said he would like to see the PGA Tour begin drug testing as quickly as possible, was asked Tuesday if he would be surprised if a golfer tested positive for drug use.

"If anything, probably out here it would be testing positive for maybe being hung over a little bit," Woods said. "But that's about it. I know some guys have taken Medrol packs for inflammation in their wrists, but other than that, I really don't see anybody doing anything, or have heard anybody doing anything."

Phil Mickelson also said he thought golfers were clean.

"I don't think there's even a remote chance that will happen," he said of a golfer testing positive for steroids.
