Its time for a new motherboard....Im looking at the the P35 vs nV 6xx based boards.
The main thing driving me away from the 600 nV boards is noise and heat. I need the new motherboard to do >400fsb and be "RAID-able". I know the 680s OC well, but I had an EVGA 680i that got scary hot with passive cooling and with the fan on, was obnoxiously loud :(
The P35's look like a good alternative but they are new and I don't want to run into Intel RAID setup and NIC issues, like I have on this QuadGT again.

thanks

I think that Intels Raid is faster and the chipsets run really cool. I was able to run 500FSB on mine (p965) with ease and is very very stable.

For me, it's Intel > NVIDIA unless you want SLI.

I agree with the beautiful man above :wonder:

Go Intel unless you want SLI.

I'm actually running a nf650i board and it's been great. Very stable and very easy to work with. Cheap as chips too.

Same. Slawter made me but an Intel chipset mobo. No problems at all so far.

I decided to give Abit ...a little slack, since I generally like this QuadGT, to see if they worked out the "wrinkles" with newer boards ...that have made me want to change.
Anyway...I'm replacing my Abit AB9 QuadGT with an Abit IP35 Pro (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030)

My Abit board hasn't let me down yet. Neither has my previous Abit board... Or the one before that!

I would go with an intel chipset as well. It seems that Intel is better at keeping their older chipsets drivers current and up to date. NVIDIA is not very good at keeping support current on anything less than the late MB's

the nvidia chipsets are slightly faster but for the ultimate in stability nothing beats an Intel chipset. I have put together three P35 rigs and they all hit 500MHz fsb with quad cpu's -two Asus and an Abit- with absolutely no voltage changes in the bios. I really liked the Abit board, the layout it a lot better than the Asus which I think is the worst of them all

Another vote for P35.

I gave up my 680i for a P35 and havent been happier, I do like the 680i bios better.

SLI is pretty much the only reason to choose a Nvidia MoBo.
