Is anyone else having this problem with QuickTime v7.2, NVIDIA ForceWare v162.18, DirectX 9.0c (April 2007 I think?), Windows XP Pro. SP2 (all updates), and a GeForce 7950 GT KO? Playing specific MOV (h264) crashes via Web browser (e.g., IE6.0 SP2 and SeaMonkey) OR the player itself

I never had this problem with previous versions of ForceWare. I had to disable Direct Accerelation in QT's Advanced tab options.

Thank you in advance. :)

I played some HD movie trailers at 720i just now using QT Pro 7.2 and I didn't have any problems in DX or Safe Mode. I use Safe Mode though, because for some reason, DX Mode leaves weird impressions while watching HD trailers, whereas Safe Mode does not. Both are very similar, just don't like the "ghosts" left behind in DX Mode.

All 3 played just fine using FF 2.0.0.5 I noticed your system specifications say: Forceware 162.18 - July 5, 2007 Beta Release ... What about the final verison that came out a few days ago?

Yes. All of the latest 160 series Forceware drivers crash my computer when watching certain videos/trialers. Not only mov format, but wmv as well.

Still using Forceware 94.24 because of it.

Here are two videos I test with new drivers to see if the bug has been fixed or not. Just tested 163.15 today with same crashing result..

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare E3 2007 Trailer (HD) (http://www.gamershell.com/download_20028.shtml) - Crashes Media Player Classic instantly when played using Overlays

Unreal Tournament 3 E3 2007 Trailer (HD) (http://www.gamershell.com/download_20068.shtml) - Crashes my pc after I play it in fullscreen for awhile

There are many other trailers I tried to watch that give me crashes on newer drivers. However 94.24 plays them all just fine.

I'm guessing (hoping?) these issues don't exist on the Geforce 8 series cards.

Was 94.24 the last version released before v162.18 for non-8xxx cards and XP? I think I am going to need to roll back if other video files crashes. So far, it's just h264 MOV files.

My video problems started somewhere in 100 series drivers, but I don't remember which exactly. There are many drivers between 94.24 and 162.xx, but 94.24 is the driver I always seem to fall back on because of its reliability and speed on my setup.

For example, today I benchmarked World in Conflict using 163.15 and 94.24. 94.24 was faster by a considerable margin.

WiC is faster with 94.24? Yikes. I need to benchmark FEAR, WiC, etc. after I get home. I do NOT want slower games either!!

Both results looked the same that I recalled in the past. I will kee[p using this driver for a little longer unless I find something that drive me nuts to downgrade.

The CoD4 one played fine in QT 7.2, but crashed WMP Classic. The UT3 one played fine in WMP11 and WMP Classic.
