heres a bench ive been using to measure cpu performance for a long time... windows media player water visualization... to run the bench:

- you must have vsync forced off
- you need to use FRAPS to measure the framerate
- in windows media player go to tools->plug ins->options->ambience
- now go properties and select full screen resolution as 1024x768
- play an mp3 and select the visualization as ambience->water
- note the FPS
- post your results and CPU clock

im getting 64 FPS with my E6400 @ 3.5GHZ

I don't have that in Vista Ultimate x64.

What OS and version of Media Player are you running?
