Yeah there might be something else going there Max. Mine is just as zippy as Win XP is, if not faster, even after many, many hours of use.

Would like to see machine spec's and what programs you are running. Sometimes it's just a program that is trying to connect to the internet looking for updates, or anti-virus program starting up things like that.

It’s very easy to just blame vista, but until you look at the whole picture like outdated programs, bios, anti-virus programs etc it’s very hard to say by just a post like my machine is using lots of ram and laggin desktop.

Does vista actually free up resources like ram when you fire up a game? I haven't done much gaming in vista because of my pro evo 6 and tiger woods 07 problems.

Yup, very well too. I know seeing this pisses some off but oh well, every game I play is on par, almost on par or faster than XP. Even got Dark Messiah working finally.

I agree. There may be 10 pages of "problems", but some are trivial ("The screen goes black for a moment when you select multi-GPU mode with a 7950 GX2.") and most relate either to a specific graphics card and/or a specific piece of software. This is the reason that PC gaming is dying. The design of each platform is just too varied, when compared to the hardware in consoles.

Ya... I don't know why people bitch about this either. I don't care if all my ram is being used when the machine is not in a game. Id rather it be used them sit there being wasted and idle doing nothing. It cleary works great for games as I Have no issues to date and when you exit a game you will see the memory useage drop way down then start to go back up as other programs running are then allowed to access it again. Good feature IMO.
