Hell yea, its going to be the best year ever for PC gaming in a very long time :captnkill:
Let's see what you did to get ready?? (you did get ready, right?? ;) )
I added 2more gigs of RAM, finally got a RAID"0" going and moved to Vista64
plus I gutted and rebuilt my system for the best cooling I could out of what I had

I ditched my 3800+ system and moved to a Q6600 system. Huge step for me. Single to quad core! So sorry if I rave about this quad, but it's because I never had a dual to compare with...

Penryn and G90 are the priorities at the moment. Maybe a PS3 thrown i nthere somewhere to play GTAIV

That's what I plan on doing.

Jakup you crazy mofo, you totally have to get a QX6850

Me, well, i built this current system thinking it would be enough, but no...

I'll prolly end up saving this tax cheque, check out the prices for a QX6850, maybe an X38 board if they have an nforce chipset, get some DDR3 Ram, possibly even think about getting some raptors for RAID 0 and cross my fingers about a PCIe Xfi. Oh, i can't forget the G92. Who knows, i may even dabble into Water-cooling finally.

The current system i have? Just another Upgrade for the G/F. Upgraded her system like 5 times this year so far lol. She's now got a 4600+ AM2, Nforce 590, 7900GT atm, so this system should be a decent upgrade.

Btw - DISPOSABLE INCOME 4TW!

9800, 28" View Sonic, new power supply, 2 more gigs of memory and either a Barcelona or Penryn.... I'm waiting to see hard numbers before going Quad.

1) 150 GB Raptor (I'm on a 74 atm, too small)...
2) Penryn (I asked the guy during the Intel presentation at Comic-Con if he had a Penryn running there...He repeated the question and said "NO"...Then some other Intel guy rushed up to me and said "For asking that question, you deserve a prize!!!" and gave me some Intel Pillow...LOL)
3) G90/92/9800GTX whatever it's going to be called

Till those come out (penryn and 9800), I'll be happy enough with my current set up and live with some of the next gen games at lower settings...I'm only playing at 1440x900 anyway...

That made me think of a
4) Bigger monitor (s)...a 24"+ ....But that probably won't happen until X-Mas or after...

Well, my gaming plans have changed and not for the better. Looks like I'll be selling my 8800GTS KO 640MB ACS3 and going back to an ol' 7900GT.

... maybe an X38 board if they have an nforce chipset...I just caught that. It wouldn't be an X38 if it had an nVidia chipset :)

As far as being ready...First its the 9800GTX, then a move to the Wolfdale Extreme Processor.

I'm too lazy to take any pics but I got the following just recently:

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with 120mm SilenX fan (free from Mullet because he's a kick ass guy :D)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66Ghz
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
2x1024Mb OCZ PC-8500 SLI Certified DDR2

Currently running the CPU at 3.6Ghz and I'm extremely happy with the speed its giving me. I seriously can't believe the improvements in some games. Some places in Vampire:Bloodlines (the streets of santa monica) chugged along in the 30fps range on my X2 at 2.5Ghz. On this thing the game is 100% pegged at 85fps (limited by vsync) the entire time at 2048x1536!!!

I could easily squeeze a bit more speed out of it, but I'm going to hold off until I see a real need for it. Maybe Crysis will create that need, but until then, this thing is eating my games alive.

No wonder.
Vamp : Bloodlines always liked a faster CPU & the differnece in outdoor areas is rather HUGE that i never seen a game take advantage of faster CPU's like this one!

Why not get another 74GB raptor and do some RAID 0?

I started this thread to see some pics, we already had a couple "what did you upgrade" threads ......I wanted this one to be the place to show them off :)

I'm planning on getting a new case to cool off my OC'd 3800X2 and a 8-series or 9-series card before the end of the year. It'll be a while before I build a completely new rig due to the soon-to-be marriage coming up lol.

A new rig is in my future sometime soon. Kinda want to wait for Penryn and Barcelona to release though, not to mention G92.

Definitely getting a 9800GTX when its released. I might upgrade my CPU and mobo, but I think I'll wait till next summer for that. And, If I can find a sweet deal for a high-res 30" monitor, I'll get one to go with the 9800!
