Samsung has come out with new versions of all their popular lcds. By googling the model number you can find they have updated the panel, something to do with giving it a wider range of colors. Here is the Best Buy link it cost 30 more than the 226BW but you can probably find it for cheaper elsewhere.

There's a panel lottery with the 206BW and 226BW. The ones all the reviewers online have is the S panel, which has the fastest response time and best image quality. Unfortunately, Samsung also sell the A and C panels. When you buy one of these monitors, you never know which panel you'll get. The A panel is only slightly worse than the S but the C panel is apparently absolutely terrible.

I was going to get the 206BW but now that I've heard what they're doing, I'll never buy another Samsung product again.

yeah I've read about that I wonder if they've standardized though with the new CW series because I'm sure they know about the complaints with the BWs.

Are we really debating a panel lottery when all were dealing with are TN based panels? Yuck. If you really want to get pissed off about a panel lottery, try buying a Dell 2007WFP. You might get a nearly flawless S-IPS panel or you might get a crudtacular generic Samsung PVA panel.

It will be better to get a 24" panel so that you can run at 1920 x 1200. There is a big difference in image quality between 1680 x 1050 and 1920 x 1200. Also 24" panels can enable you to view full 1080p hd content.

Yeah, there are some really nice things about 24" panels, but they still have a fair amount of problems. The technology hasn't matured as much as 20 and 21 inch panels. There are still fairly significant problems including input lag, banding, and sparkling that affect nearly all 24" models to some extent.

I'm picky, though, and spoiled by two beautiful 19" Samsung 997DF CRT's.

I would have recommended the Dell 2407wfp but enjoy the Samsung anyway.

Yuck!

All Rev02 have banding and all Rev03 have over saturation and sparkling!

The Samsung isn't too bad, especially for the price they are going for.

I looked at that one very hard. I wanted it indeed but the price and some of the issues, dell 24" was double what I payed for the 22". My biggest concern on a 24" is im not going to run SLI so I think a 22" is plenty for me. I hope the transition from a good 22" crt to a 22" LCD is a good one.

I'm picky, though, and spoiled by two beautiful 19" Samsung 997DF CRT's.Qlitchford is right. I spent months researching and looking at displays before picking my BenQ 241WZ. Fortunately it has no huge problems with input lag, banding, or even ghosting. The only thing I missed, and I mean the only thing, about upgrading to this was that it lacked a true black color in dark scenes when compaired to a CRT. I've since gotten used to it somewhat.

Hasn't the Rev04 fixed all those issues? Anyway I am happy with my 245B. Running at 1920 x 1200 ftw!!

I got it @ newegg for $319.00 free shipping, there is also a $20.00 MIR (not holding my breath there). From what I have read the A,S,C is just where they are made and the differences are very minor, all the reading everyone is happy with it. Samsung now ship's them with no A,S,C listed or in the menu screen. I will post on it when it arrives.

I just got it and calibrated it, seems very very nice BUT I must admit its not as greasy slick playing games as my old NEC 22"CRT. I think over time I will get use to it. The backlit is better on my wifes DELL2007 but thats about it, all in all I am happy. :D
