fiddled around with it today for a bit and there's no difference whatsoever with my Ti4600.

it should change AF speed. other people have also done testing and they concluded the same thing as me, i'm sure that some others used gf4s. still same effect for me with the 43.45 drivers. Application AF is slower in OGL than Quality is.

using "TextureFilteringTest" from a guy at B3D I concluded that all three modes look _identical_ down to the last pixel

I also observed that slowdown yet there does not seem to be an increase in quality, how f'ed up is that ;)

Huh? It does nothing?!?

To make people think it does something to improve quality it's just slowing down the card?

it does do something for quality- on gfFX cards.
