Hola,

I need some help friends. A friend of mine is in the market for a new video card, as he is buying all new stuff for his comp. He's got a good amount of money to spend, but wants to spend as little as possible for a good video card.

I was wondering what you all thought.

I showed him the GeForce 4 Ti4200 , and the ATI 9500 Pro and a few others in the below 200.00 price range, but was wondering what you all thought. Best for the cheepest =)

Thanks again,

The Catalyst 3.2s, yes. But the 3.1s that I'm using now have been pretty much flawless (if slower than the 3.2s) in all my games, even older ones like Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. I think the 9500 Pro or 9700 non-Pro would be your best bet here.

Anything 9500 pro and above is a good choice, if he can wait he can see how the 9600 pro turns out. Does anybody know how much that one will cost?

9500 Pro is the best bang-for-buck card out there right now.

Thanks for the input. Thats what I was thinking about as well. I'm an nvidia fan , so I always lean towards nvidia based card, but since its his money, I suggested ATi as well. For some reason he said he was going to get a GeForce 3 Ti500. Not sure why, when he could pick up that 8500 <shrug>

I agree with everyone who said a 9500 pro. If he can afford it, it's definately the best bang-for-buck. :)

Because in real-world gaming a GF3 ti500 will toast an 8500 might be one reason.... ;)
