Didn't they once say there will NEVER be HDMI on the 360?

Oh well, my 360 is still cruising along. I'm happy with component. :D

Funny that the photos posted of the HDMI premium show it was manufactured on 7-4-07. I received a replacement premium w/ not HDMI from MS that has a manufacture date of 7-16-07. Are they manufacturing two different versions of the premium?

Anyone know how to get the 3 rings of death ? :p

Step 1: Get a towel
Step 2: Wrap your console tightly in it.
Step 3: Turn on console.
Step 4: Play the heck out of it for a few hours.
Step 5: Hope it doesn't catch fire.
Step 6: Return broken console to the store.

note: the above instructions work on the PS3 and Wii too.

It isn't quite a three year warranty. It is one year on everything, and three years if you get the three red rings. As well the extended warranty is through Microsoft.

Please remember that purposely breaking things to claim the warranty, at least in this part of the world, can be considered fraud. MS also does have the option to repair your console when you send it to them, and if it is damaged in a way that is not under warranty you will also get billed for the repairs.

Personally, I do not need nor would use a HDMI connector with my current tv and my Dec 2005 360 is still working fine. Although it will get quite the workout this fall with halo3, bioshock, bluedragon, HL2 orange box, maybe masseffect.

I think he's talking about an in-store 3 year exntended warranty. Not Microsoft's extended warranty for the RROD.

You can't walk into a store and claim the 3 year warranty. Consoles that are repaired under that warranty have to be sent directly to MS for repair. If you purchase an extended warranty from a BestBuy or Circuit City then you'd be able to walk in and exchange the console for a new one.

Don't be so dishonest as to willfully break something to get an "upgrade."

It is a slippery slope once you've started.

Gotta love how MS is reallys screwing early adopters, next thing you know they will add in an HD-DVD player considering how poorly the format is doing lately (300 sold more then 2:1 on BR vs HD:DVD).

Yup. Not only did we have to wait months. Now they have scraped the 60gb version and are going with the 80Gb. I just got my PS3 too. :(

Who cares? My projector has HDMI, VGA or component hookups. From what I have read HDMI does not really improve anything. I hope they do add HD support, with their new 3 year replacement I am sure I could get my 360 to open its red eye and replace it with a better version. The more I think about it the more I like it!:D

I don't see how it can be considered screwing the early adopters even if there was some benefit to HDMI--I paid for an Xbox with component and I got an Xbox with component.

It's just like a car. If for example you buy an 06 Nissan Altima but then the next year Nissan adds several additional features for the same price do you feel screwed? The car still drives that same... still has basically all the same functions. Saying MS somehow screwed their customers by adding an additional IO interface makes no sense. Now Sony reducing the price of the PS3 after only 9 months on the market might ruffle some feathers. :o

The failure rate on the 360 is so high that I doubt anyone would notice anyways. Chances are that if you're just a bit patient, your 360 will die on its own ;)

I've kind of been hoping mine would die all on it's own.. and yet.. zero problems.

lol... I think its because in many ways Sony and MS treat the Euro and Aus market as one.

If it was anything other than the 360, I'd agree. Technically, they're all already 'broken' (due to the design flaw). I've lost count of the amount of people I've read that just bought a new 360 instead of paying for the repairs when they got the RRoD with an expired warranty. Microsoft deserve to reap what they sowed.

Console specs and connectivity change all the time. They aren't 'screwing' anyone any more than Nintendo did when they removed the component port on the Gamecube, or Sony did with the ethernet card and 3.5" bay in the PS2. The 360 has been on the market for almost two years; it's only to be expected to see some change, and the original console remains just as functional.

I also don't know how relevant gay porn is to the format wars.
