I'm going to upgrade the cpu one last time. What is the fastest 939 out there, the fx-60 dual core?

I guess I will try my luck at an Intel system next:(

FX-60 is dual 2.6GHz cores. The FX-57 is a single 2.8GHz core. In games the latter still might be a little bit faster. I'd honestly go with the 60 though.

Do what I did- buy an Opteron 185. It is 99% identical to the FX-60. The 1% difference is that the FX-60 has unlocked multipliers whereas the Opteron185 does not. But, the Opteron is binned higher so you are still (almost) guaranteed a great overclocker.

Furthermore, the Opteron 185 is going to be a lot easier to find, and a lot less expensive, while offering you the exact same stock performance as an FX-60 and will be (for the most part) just as overclockable. ;)

Save some money, get the Opteron185. :D

Opty 185. FX-60 isn't worth the premium you will have to pay for it.

I would just save my money and wait and see how the new AMD CPUs look ,if you are not interested in the Core 2 Duo .But the Opteron 185 would be the fastest s939 CPU and you can find them for around $240

Opteron cpu's are aimed at server market.

That doesn't stop them being the heart of a great gaming machine.

QFT. A great gaming machine this Opty has made, indeed.

As to which opty you should purchase...

It's what I went with. And the HSF that comes with it is actually really nice. Not top of the line or what not, but for a stock cooler it really rocks. ;)

Most stock coolers are pretty decent. My Intel one has a nice copper core, it's just a bit noisy for my open mesh case.

:o

The last stock cooler I ever had before this Opty was for an AXP1800- and it was utter crap. Good to know AMD and Intel are finally bundling decent coolers with their chips.
