Ive had my 120 extreme for a few days now and ive been thinking of modding another 120mm fan on the other side so it will have x2 120mm fans on, has anybody done\tried this? .... im wondering will it make that much of a difference? witch way would it be best to have the airflow of the other fan?

That's what I was thinking. Having the airflow go the same direction... going the opposite directions I think would be bad...

Definitely push/pull. Both fans blowing in would create dead spots.

Ahh right, well i suppose i could try it both ways so see which one is best!

Didn't Anandtech use a push/pull configuration in their review of that cooler?

Are you high on something?
Sorry if I ruined the thread by biting.

But hey ,Why not try 4 120mm fans all blowing inwards.

No they used a single fan.

No they used a single fan.
You're right. Did some checking and it was the Scythe Infinity. Using a push-pull configuration instead of a single fan they got an extra 70 MHz out of it.

Not worth it to me considering the added noise it must produce...

the push/pull will definitely produce better cooling. increased velocity over the plate will increase the heat removal rate. it's basic fluids for ya :)

What are you talking about? i asked a simple question! ... if your going to be an arse about it dont reply and waist my time! .....

Ive got a tt armor, its got 120mm fan pulling air out of the case almost perfectly aligned with the extreme about 3.5 to 4 inches away. so the air coming off the extreme is directly being pulled out anyways.
I tried a little experiment, I disabled the fan mentioned up above. My temps raised about 2 degress on idle, and about 3.5 or so under load, so the push pull method does have some merit, but due to space constraints it would be very diffiicult for for me to get another fan on the extreme with my current configuration.

Owch ,I deserved that

My coolers fins cause a lot of resistance as in I dont feel ANY pressure on the rear side but like randsom there just isnt enough space to put another fan on it, I have thought about putting some ducting on my exhaust fan though , I think that would work well.

I really hope you didnt try the fans facing each other idea, that would turn it into a mini convection oven

Lol .... sorry about that, i dont want to cause any friction with anybody here, been viewing these forums a long time, lets just settle it with a ;) ok?

By the way i modded a fan on and i DIDNT do it with the fans facing each other, i did it how you all suggested and its knocked 3c off lol ...... well at least it works! :D

ATOJAR,get used to it,a few on these forums, like to crap on noobs and beginners when they ask questions. :thumbdwn:

I think there is no such thing as a stupid question,we were all noobs at one point or another.Ask away, and hopefully some of the more polite members that were not raised by wolves in a cave will respond poiltely. :) One fan pushing air on one side, and the other pulling is FAR better then both blowing inward or vice versa.A push pull on this (http://www.overclock.net/intel-air-cooling/211434-thermalright-ultra-120-extreme-push-pull.html) or the new ULTIMA (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/6221/cpu-tri-42/Thermalright_Ultima-90_CPU_Cooler_Socket_775_AM2_-_Core_2_Quad_and_Extreme_Ready.html#blank) 90 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=137838),would get you truly fantastic temps.Beating a Tuniq or a bog standard TRU 120,but not the TRUE.Although it would come close to a TRUE with only a 1 fan,and with hundreds of grams less wieght overall.

Plus less stress on the mobo, which is always a good thing.

I honestly thought the question was a wind up, No disrespect intended.
