Xbox 360 users help me out here...

I have the 360 and the official Microsoft Wireless adapter. However, when I forst got the system I think I remember that the console used to automatically sign me in to Xbox Live when I turned on the console. Recently however, it signs me in locally to my system account but the Xbox Live account doesn't login until I start a game or tell it to connect to Live.

What behavior are the rest of you experiencing?

I get the same thing using the official wireless adapter... the download speeds also suck with it.
