just some quick benchmarks, seems stable at 420/370 w/ no artifacts. just preliminary though, gotta beat on it some more. not tweaked totaly, looks like there might be more left.

looks like car chase and lobby are pretty much cpu bound.

9800pro slight studdering in d3d and sluggish display properties with Cat 3.1, NOT present with 3.2.

Im just installed a new HD so I will re-install 2k3 and post some more bench's.

FPS without AA/AF are moustly CPU dependant in 3dmark2k1

Post some score results with 4xAA and 8xAF ;)

3dmark2k3 is bad benchmark IMO

Ooo and BTW was it cloaked at 420/370 by default ?

default clock was 378core 337.5 mem

I re-installed 3dm2k3. the ti4600 320/720 41.09 config scored 1500~ points. (cant rem the exactly, I was always dissapointed and didnt save....LOL) with 43.45 it was 1800~

I had to lower the 98pro mem from 370.00 to 364.50 due to pixel artifacts in 2k3, but it was fine in 2k1.

I was able to raise the core to 429.75 with the mem at 364.50

6045 3d 2k3 marks

so, the benchmark I thought was useless with my ti4600 appears to fit the 9800pro / FX5800 cards pretty well. it suprised me.

here is the default ati d3d settings with 429.75core 364.50 mem.

well, almost default. I disabled vsync .

I did publish this one so you can check it out.

gonna repost the 2k1 score with those clocks, then im gonna try some AA/AF runs.

the above link is broke, try this one.

I know, The Airborne Express guy is liek Santa haha.

It was funny, i was so excited to get this puppy, then he was like oh i need your sig..

then he said 'oh i cant read it' while i was jumping up and down lol ; D

BTW i can get a much much higher 3dmark03 score, i feel its a waste of my time to run the test at anything else than 1280x1024 and wtih AA and AF turned up.

I am very impressed with this card, im gonna post my picture review very soon.

Airborne dropped off my 9800 pro shortly after lunch. I'm currently benchmarking at 410/360. One thing I noticed was that the heatsink was REALLY loose, normally the sticky thermal pad that's used attaches it pretty securely. :( Since I planned on just using this card until I can purchase at 9800 pro 256, I was going to leave it "stock". However, since the heatsink was so loose I went ahead and removed it and replaced the original thermal compound with AS3. I didn't have to remove the metal shim around the R350 chip, since the chip was already above the shim. Anyway, it's now running fine and I'm experimenting to find out how high I can push the clocks.:D

One area where the 9800 pro seems better than the 9700 pro is AGP 8X compatibility. I'm using a Gigabyte 8INXP Granite Bay motherboard. I tried three different 9700 pro boards, including the latest revision, and none were completely stable at AGP 8x. This 9800 pro seems rock solid running at 8X.

I'm currently testing (UT2003 botmatch_all) at 420/375.

Sweet, but i do have a question, when i touch my ram and heatsink, they feel pritty hot? anyone else have that?

I get the urge to o/c it but, mayber i should get a preformance cooler fist.

How come all your links are not valid?

Red Dog
04-14-03, 07:17 PM
I dont know why the links go dead. they work for a few days, then they die.

maybe because I didnt buy the full version, or maybe because cat 3.2 isnt a WHQL driver?
