Well remember that most companies have moved away from "Paper" launches. I'd rather they wait to announce officially and be shipping then to know for months ahead of time and not see any update on status during that time.

See, I plan to upgrade to 45nm Intel this fall and would like to include the 9800GTX, but if its not coming out until something like Q1 or Q2 2008, then I may just hold off. It would be nice to have a release date soon.

True, if Crysis is all it's cracked up to be, that game could end up selling plenty of high-end hardware. :)

We first told you that G92 is 65nm based with 256-bit memory interface back in June and seems that HKEPC agrees with us now. Lots of confusion on the discussion forums that G92 has 512-bit memory interface and is the highest end GPU from NVIDIA which, in fact is not. HKEPC revealed that G92 will be launched on November 12th and will replace the current GeForce 8800 GTS series. It is meant to compete against the RV670 while the low end G98 will compete against the RV620. However, launch date for G98 has not firmed up yet. G92 supports PCI Express 2.0, 50GT/s texture fill rate, Pure Video Gen 3, HDMI and uses display port. G92 will still be named under GeForce 8 family

From a marketing standpoint, I don't see why Nvidia would not want to premiere their new chipset in the highend segment first to give the chipset a solid reputation to pass onto to the mainstream and lowe end cards. So many contradicting stories right now its hard to assume anything with the g92 chip.

Until an official release is made this is all FUD.

The G92 will support PCI Express 2.0, HDMI, PureVideo Gen 3 and Display Port, while the chip will adopt a 65nm process. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will manufacture the chips. Despite the new chip designs, G92 and G98 can only be considered an update of the GeForce 8 series since they will not include any major changes, the sources explained.

The only official word from Nvida seems to have been during an analyst con-call:
http://www.beyond3d.com/content/news/230
He says that they have no intention of breaking the cycle of high-end at year's end.
I'm hopeful that this stays true....

I found my receipt the other day and I bought my 8800GTX early last December. This looks to be coming out about the same time as the 8800GTX did so I would definitely guess it is a high end part that we'll be able to pick up as a Christmas gift for ourselves... :drooling:

lol The Inq talking about FUD... that's quite somthing ;)
Let's wait and see, I'm pretty sure that we'll see a new highend GPU for those games this November.
All speculation until we hear from nVidia directly, but if I read those rumors correctly we will have a "new" 8800 GTS and not a new GTX. To me the suggestion that G92 is merely an upgrade rings more true that a G92 that is twice as fast as an 8800 Ultra.
I really hope to have a 9800GTX that is twice as fast as the 8800GTX though. I think we all do.

i really actually believe this rumor and I don't think twice about it.
I think the inquirer is almost always right.
Nvidia releases things too fast, so I wouldn't rule out a launch within the next 2 weeks.

Hdmi on video cards. Yuk. So whats happening to the high end then? I doubt Nvidia will release a chip to replace the 8800GTS and not one to replace the 8800 GTX. Sounds silly.

G90. I bet we will see it soon after the G92 or even at the same time.
Edit: Now that I think about it, NVIDIA's Michael Hara clearly stated that they don't plan to diverge from the cycle they have adopted with the G80, which is to have the high-end part ready at the end of the year and release the lower-end derivatives in the spring. Thus, I call shenanigans. I still expect G90 to hit the streets before the lower end parts...
PS: I just noticed the vBcode of nvnews doesn't have a [strike] tag :/...

I don't want HDMI on my video card either.
you will have to have hdmi on card for future due hd films or in games it should be hdmi 1.3 also.
its not hdmi its Display Port on the G92
