The idea of sound and a video picture coming over a single cable makes me angry. Yuk.

My 8800GTX was quite simply put the best video card I have ever owned period.

It has served its purpose wonderfully and still does and will for the next few months untill I build a whole new rig around NV's next top of the line card.

I have enjoyed every game new and old at 1920x1200 res completely maxed out and at 16xaf/8xaa. Hardly a waste in my book.

comment was made by someone who obviously thought the 7 series also unnesessary

I dont think we will see a GTX level card from Nvidia for at least 6 to 8 months from now.AMD is seriously lagging and that will only get worse. Why innovate and push the envelope, when your main enemy is winded and cant keep up ?

Go check Hexus...

I hope that NVIDIA pushes the 9800 GTX higher!

You don't have to use the sound signal as well. But for HTPCs or gaming rigs with HDTVs a HDMI port could be very useful. Right now I use a DVI-HDMI cable to connect my TV.

Good thing is that DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI are all compatible with each other.

Interesting, the latest rumor (Xbit/front page) seems to be that G92 is aimed at being a mainstream card. Anyone think there will be a high end card to go along with it?

Nvidia has been releasing their top end video cards first followed by their mainstream parts weeks or months later. If the XBit story turns out to be true, this will be a major reversal of nvidia's prior behaviour. The numbering scheme would seem to indicate that this is a mainstream part based upon how nvidia has numbered their parts in the past.

I dont think G92 is a mainstream chip, I believe it is a high end chip.

Here is a Nvidia slide obtained from china website PCINLIFE showed G92 at the top, it have 1 billion transistors. :D

400000w lol

no with a 65nm chip it should run lower power and be cooler but do not no if ddr4 runs more power or less than ddr3

I like how the x2x00/8x00 series hyped dx10 and there wont even be a full real dx10 title out til after their life cycle is done.

Maybe but Nvidia release only mainstream cards on november that means they trust to Geforce 8 series for Crysis performance.
I think this could be good news for us,as i sad maybe :)

mm makes me wonder why Crysis was delayed so long ..

Chinese charts are always 100% accurate (nana2) ;)

Seriously though I hope it is a high end card with a decent mainstream card to go with it. There is kind of a gap there that should be filled.

<-- Still waiting for a killer DX10.1 mid range card from Nvidia to replace my trusty 7600GT. Was hoping it was going to be available in time for Crysis but i guess ill have to wait.

Exact same boat I'm in. :(

I'm considering an 8800GTS and then stepping up to whatever the new hottness may be at the end of the year with whatever Christmas money I get.

LOL - Ya, it will be interesting what kind of power draw these new cards have.

well for sure the best card they've put out, but will it ever get a fair chance to test itself? i guess it will for a month or two with bioshock, crysis, etc.

Drop your 6800 into the bin and grab one,or at least a 7xxx series.I have always stayed one major hardware generation behind,it makes it easier to avoid the crap hardware and software issues.Just because crysis is due around release of a new card does not guarantee the new card will work awesome.the way I look at it when Crysis is out and the 9xxx series shows up I will swoop in on a 8800gtx,it should be very easy to spot the best performance/for the buck combo as the 8xxx prices are sure to drop.If you dont at least move to a 7xxx card you wont be playing much of anything new.My mother is using a 6800gt btw.

G92(GT?) power requirements should be between 7900GS and 7900GTX according to a trustfull Chinese site.

The G70 used 302 million not whats stated on the chart. And the Geforce256 used 22.8 million not 23....but ok... ;)

I think the conference call from a little while back is as accurate as we will get,in that the next 'GTX' chip to ship will have dual precision and 1 teraflop as well as 1 billion transistors, but,I still think it would be crazy for Nvidia to ship it now(next 2 to 4 months),given AMD's at best lackluster performance.

Nvidia G92 is GeForce 8700 GTS?

I must call BS, every new nVidia generation came out with their top of the line first. An nVidia rep even said 1Teraflop of performance which that 8700 GTS cannot do.
