HI!

I've installed Mandrake 9.1 succesfully on my new Epox 8RDA+ based system (with Matrox GraBo). I encountered the following problems:

1) I had severe problem to get USB to run. When the board was started several USB IRQs were not assigned. I only got it working by disabling parport, acpi and ac97 support in the BIOS. Interesting enough is that shutdown still works though acpid does not work and claims no acpi being in the system. ac97 does not work as well when being disabled in the bios.

2) When ac97 support is enabled I got analog sound to work, didn't test spdif up to now (I only have a cd writer for testing it). I have problems though to get sb live and ac97 sound to work but that's probably because MDKs drakconf does not directly support two soundcards.

3) network support does not work without nvidia driver. MDK recognises the network card type but does not offer a driver (probably the pro-Version will have the driver and offer it).

4) firewire: the driver and everything loads, but I could not get a ping to my laptop (eth1394 driver). Pinging myself works. There are some kernel messages when trying that, if somebody is interested... I'll have to check the firewire devel list for that.

5) problems with the mouse pointer picture, but I suppose this is a bug in XFree matrox driver.

Has anybody information how to get all acpi, ac97 and usb a IRQ assigned by the BIOS ? I checked the epox homepage to make sure I'm using a current BIOS.

Reinhard
