View Full Version : Mike Vick is he thru?
Hi well looks like Mike admitted to sponsering Dog fights guess now all that remains is how many years will this dirt bag get and after he finally does get out hopefully 5yrs or longer will he be through in the NFL?
Reading on msn sports some say yes he done but then again some say no they think someone will pick him up. What do you think?
I'd be surprised if he got any real amount of time out of this. Seems sports stars, rock stars, movie stars.... they all get way less time when compared to the average person doing the same thing. I'm guessing 90 to 120 days in jail (if any), a fine and probation.

I want the NFL to cut his carear short and be done with this scumbag. He'll probably get 1-2 years at max if that, seeing as he settled a plea-bargain and knowing he is paying top dollar for some of the best attorneys in the business

He should have fought it... not that I like him, or that I think he is innocent... but geez... OJ got away with murdering 2 HUMANS.

I think people become more upset when hearing of torture and murdering animals that have no control or fight against it vs. murdering two humans which we hear about on news every day
So much potential down the drain.
I say he's done in NFL. He might get into a Canadian or European league when he gets out of the pen.

^^ Well...at least he'll actually move on to a team that has potential on winning a championship of some sort :o

It's really too damn bad for Atlanta now. I think Schaub would have worked out real well with Petrino, probably better than Vick's running-from-the-po-po, err scrambling, style.
Its over for him.

At first this thing really disgusted me but the way they are going after him and blowing it out of proportion has really made me look on it differently. No one wants to say that these are dogs and not humans and to get over it. You even had one congress man get up in the senate nearly crying saying "barbaric, barbaric, barbaric". Never have I seen such outrage and raw emotions and there as been some very cruel things done by humans to other humans of late. We have soldiers dying daily and this is the best we can do with our emotion? Not even Katrina elicited this type of raw emotion and we saw people get washed away live on TV.
Americans have gotten too use to treating dogs better than or like humans. We dress them up, cart them around in little handbags, kiss them and even marry them off in elaborate animal weddings. Either way Vick could have probably killed someone and he would get a second chance but because these were dogs its over for him and everyone is taking glee in it. And in the end O.J Simpson will get more chances to redeem himself on TV than Vick will.

From what I have read on ESPN.com it seems that at least a year if not 18 months. Vick was a great scrambling QB. Besides that he felt a bit overrated to me.

So sad.
Vick wasn't the best QB in the world (far from it) but he had a ton of potential.
His career is over now.
I wonder how the Falcons are going to fare this season. They are pretty much the only team I've ever payed any attention to, and it was nice when they actually didn't suck. Though that seems like soooo long ago now. :o
BTW, that pic is great. :lol:

Ditto.
Here's hoping to the Lions still sucking without Harrington and him proving worthy at ATL!
Droopy Dog's expression = priceless.
It's his ******* fault anyway. He should have thought of the consequences first before sponsoring dogfights. I suppose he is rich enough to get on for the rest of his life.

Uhh, he didn't just admit to sponsoring dog fights. He admitted to torturing and killing them, when they didn't perform.
Yes, he's done.

You and 90% of the others do realize that it's lifestyle thing, right? It's not even illegal in all of the states. It's a way of life to him and I am sure he was raised around it. I am not condoning it, but to him dog fighting is normal. For many generations, many southern black folks have done this. This is no different than hunting animals for sport, while it's legal, it still has it advocates and opponents and kills 'innocent' animals. Some people view dogs as cuddly little pets to hold and some view them as a status symbol of strength and power and fight with them. IMO, he should have fessed up a lot sooner and not drug this out as long as it has been. I can see why he would try to fight for innocence, as it is all he has known in his life and theres MILLIONS of dollars on the line.

It's not illegal to sponsor dogfights in some states, but it is illegal to torture and maim animals for pleasure. That's what he's in trouble for.

I thought it was conspiracy? It is illegal in VA where the property is located.
Man I hope when he gets out of jail he comes north and plays in the CFL!

This is pretty funny:
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2007/08/018271.php
MSNBC's Alex Johnson (with the assistance of two NBC/MSNBC reporters) recently posted a story addressing whether the prosecution of Michael Vick was racist. Roughly a fourth of the MSNBC story was based on a quote from Al Sharpton's Blog. Or as Koshlan Mayer-Blackwell explains:
The quote was actually from our Newsgroper site's fake Al Sharpton Blog.
They thought Al really said this:
"If the police caught Brett Favre (a white quarterback for the Green Bay Packers) running a dolphin-fighting ring out of his pool, where dolphins with spears attached to their foreheads fought each other, would they bust him? Of course not," Sharpton wrote Tuesday on his personal blog.
They finally figured it out and made a correction, but instead of apologizing to their readers for reporting parody as fact, they called it a hoax. I wonder what finally tipped off their crack investigative journalism unit:
1. The words "fake parody blogs" in the titlebar of every page of our site;
2. Our logo;
3. Al Sharpton blogging on the same site as Lindsay Lohan, George Bush, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad;
4. Our about page; or
5. Al Sharpton referring to himself in his bio as a "Emancipation Proclamation enthusiast."
Gawker said it best:
"The next time someone trots out the adage about bloggers not being reporters, we're going to note that reporters aren't exactly reporters these days either."

I disagree.
Responsible hunters do not attempt to maim. The idea is to drop the animal in a single shot. Those that garner pleasure from inflicting pain or watching it are sick in the head.
So sad.

Anyone who thinks his career in the NFL is over,is wrong,when this trash gets out soon,and I do mean soon,NFL teams will be lining up to sign up.
The spin that Godel is trying to put on it,and the reality of the situation
are night and day.
Dahmer and an army of other deviants started out by torturing small animals... He's a sociopath.We were talking about him in the sociology lecture hall on Thursday.He'll be welcomed as a hero in prison ! :rolleyes:
Blow this out of proportions!? Hardly. This goes well beyond just getting caught at a pit fight,he was financing them,out of his home for christs sake !!... and was a ring leader,etc.
Draft weekend, he told the commissioner that he had not any involvement in dogfighting or gambling on it.
It's now come to light that he engaged in those activities earlier THAT SAME MONTH.
