I have gotten this pop-up the last three times I have logged on to nVNews? I thought we weren't going to have pop-ups? If we aren't then I will clean my HDD. If we are GRRRRR.

I got the same pop-up on my home machine running XP SP2 and IE7, but not on the work machine which is on Win2000 and IE6.

Phew!!!

For a moment I paniced when I saw the popup. Thought I had an infection. I wanted to make a thread in the open section but decided to rather post here. Then I saw that it wasn't just me.

This was the fastest I pressed "Prt Scr" in my life.

Damn it! I'd rather have the pop-up than something in common with the likes of YOU!

:captnkill:

Ok so we are saying this is nVNews now or do I still have the suck? Maybe nVNews is the slave for teh suck?

MikeC Please say it isn't so! I am all for you making money and as much as you can but please! No pop-ups. :D

I'm not getting pop-ups. I'm not sure where they are coming from.

I haven't gotten them either. They (nvjoe and magus) are on crack.

That could be part of the problem but with Picard having the same issue I don't think it is...

Klingons have butt-heads....don't try to prove you point by talking about people with butt-heads...

Confirmed, getting it on a clean Win32 machine, IE6, same pop-up.

It's not coming from http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js. It uses a cookie evidently to only show it once. I'm trying to narrow it down.

It's intellitext, host nvnews.us.intellitxt.com, script is here:

http://nvnews.us.intellitxt.com/intellitxt/front.asp?ipid=1882&mk=9

Hosts entry below resolves issue. Looks like it's getting it's ads from http://ads.hurra.de
127.0.0.1 nvnews.us.intellitxt.com

I posted a work around for the HOSTS file, I'm in the process of narrowing down the offending banner ad, specifically, by reverse engineering the JavaScript code so MikeC can alert Intellipest.

I don't care what they say about you evilghost. You're a good guy. (nana2)

Seriously, thanks for your work on this.

I knew this wasn't Mike. First off he doesn't like pop-ups and the colors clashed with the site. :D

I love owning spammers. Anway, they intentionally obfuscate the JavaScript so it's an act of Congress to get the remote Script source. I'm going to sniff the traffic over the wire and see what the remote code looks like.

Note: Chit flying across your browser window with a z-layer of 0 is spam and not non-intrusive banner ad marketing.

So, did someone hijack the forum?
