Well since we have this nice forum, I figured I'd put it to some good use. I'm looking for an easy way or a simple piece of software that I can run on a windows box that does a good job of monitoring connections. What I'm trying to accomplish is setting up a soho print server, but I want to lock down the computer that will be connecting to it using the IP filters. However, I have no clue what ports it is using, so it would probably be easier to just connect to the print server and pass a job to it and see what ports are being used. The box I'm going to be monitoring connections on will be Windows XP.

No serious stuff. Don't you know, when you get a forum you ask for, you have to post a whole heap of joke threads... :D

You'll want to use Wireshark, it uses the WinPCAP driver and supports exactly what you're trying to do. It's what I used on the Win32 machine to sniff HTTP traffic to identify the 'pop-up' banner-ad that appeared on NVNews.
