I've got this strange problem on a pc at work. It boots up fine but just after the windows logo appears it loses the data feed from the pc. In safe mode however it works just fine. It worked fine just yesterday.

Anybody know what's the problem?

Refresh rate out of spec?

Display res. set too high, or wrong refresh rate!?

If so it can be a pain in the arse. I've had to uninstall and reinstall the driver. On W98 you could boot up without the monitor VGA cable plugged in and it'd set itself to default res. Then plug it in and you could change it to what u want.

Or if ya have a higher res. monitor, plug that in to sort it.

try hitting f5 to the safe mode menu and do VGA mode instead.

Sounds like a res/refresh rate issue, if you have video drivers installed you could try going into safe-mode and uninstalling them. That should reset it.

Yep. It was a resolution issue. I phoned up a technician from a local shop and he suggested it might be a res. problem. It was.

I installed windows on a 17" and then hooked the thing up on a 15". Actually 1024x768 does worked on a 15" which is why I couldn't figure out the problem. But apperently it doesn't from start up on a 15".
