if you read the rest of the thread.....I showed my friend this thread, he grew up in Arizona. He told me about a boyscout retreat he went on as a kid. One of the other kids went to use the outhouse, and there was a brown recluse under the toilet seat. He sat down and it bit him in the testicle. He told a councilor person what happened and they rushed him to the hospital. He had to have that nut removed. T_T for testicles indeed.
a friend of mine took a friend to korea... he comes back and i stay over at his house for the night and use his sleeping bag... i come wake up it the morning with a tickle so i go to scratch and feel something... i jump out of the bag and there next to me was a ****ing 6 inch jumping spider, the thing ****ing jumped i kid you not... crazy as ****, come to find out those are super poisonous, i was lucky to live through the night lol...
I've been stung 2 times by Scorpions, the first time the bastard got me 3 times in the back when I woke up in the middle of the night. Got my wife and her dog too.
After we got the whole house sprayed we'd still get one every once in a while. Once while playing EQ a half dead one dropped from the vent in the ceiling right in my lap, scared the piss out of me.
Kill em all, if I see it, it dies.

how'd you like to have one of those crawling in your house?
/sucks thumb and rocks back and forth.
I hate spiders. It is the only creepy crawly thing I hate. I especially hate it when you are walking in the woods and you walk throught a spiders web. You start wigging out saying "WHERE'S THE SPIDER!? WHERE'S THE SPIDER!? /shudders.
When I was a little kid in Texas my brother kicked over a bucket. Out ran hundreds of tarantulas. I was standing in the dirt road and they were crawling all over my feet. I threw a rock and they ran into the bushes. I wasn't scared of them then and it isn't the reason I hate them now this is the reason I hate them. FANGS!!!

This tarantula is indigenous to the rain forest regions of northern South America. This true giant of the spider world is the largest species on earth. Adults have been known to exceed a quarter of a pound in weight with an 11-inch leg span. These animals readily flick painful urticating hairs, and when provoked will bite with their one inch long fangs!

exactly, when I was at Catalina Island I let all the spiders(there were at least 100) in my tent stay in there and they got all the bugs, all of my other friends decided to kill the spiders and they woke up with bug bites and swollen

I knew some people who went down to Beleze (sp?) I think it was. And from what they said, yes there are big swarms of insects, and some big ones too...
However the one's that crawl aren't the worst. Try an insect that can get itself under your skin, literally... Well that and if you're from the states, you might want to boil the water before drinking it. It's anything but germ free...and living in the US, well as to your immunity to it...
*with a gun in hand, slowly removes all clocks from walls, wary of a surprise attack* man, i hate spiders, and that is one big nasty SOB of a bug

They are called ticks. Nasty little buggers. We have em all over here during the summer. You can't pull them out cuz the body breaks off and the head is still stuck in you but you can burn their butts and most the time they will back out on their own. Then there are the times you have to dig them out. *shudders*

well, the spider itself in the photo is real, i'm sure. but I don't think that particular picture is real.
first of all, how the hell would it get under the clock? second, wouldn't it move if the clock was taken off? things to think about.

Still scares the piss outta me
I looked at the pics, but didnt read anything. Anyone who is from the land of Oz should know those kind of spiders, its a common house spider in Oz, well where I come from in the Gippslands in the south of Victoria. It was always my job to catch them and take them outside, my mum was too scared  What really freaked my mum out is that these things jump :p When I was 4, my uncle put a live one in a jar and put it in the bath while I was in it and pushish it towards me, now I remeber that I was scared. We get all the good stuff in Oz, snakes in houses, scorpions, spiders :D
YIKES!
We get 'em pretty big down here in the South, but not THAT big. Spiders, scorpions, and centipedes, oh my (but not any bigger than my thumb). And for the palmetto bugs (glorified roaches) it's, "Honey, grab me a shoe, please. No, one of MY shoes."
A buddy of mine sent a picture back from Malawi...he was standing in a hut, grinnin' like a fool, holding a centipede with some pliers. The thing was as long as his forearm.
But now that we've got swarms of termites coming out of the walls (shades of Aliens there ... "They're comin' out of the walls!") I'm kinda wishing we had a few more of the predators lurking around (and by lurking, I mean not where I can see 'em). :)
Cheers,
JND
