Reviews here (http://www.mbreview.com/172t.php), here (http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1780), here (http://www.modfactor.com/reviews/monitors/Samsung172T/Samsung172t.html)...

It's probably the best 17" LCD monitor available right now. Silver with multimedia base and wall-mounting bracket. 3 months old, spotless, no dead pixels, fully boxed with manual, psu, leads, receipt (for 500) etc etc. Everything is as new.

375, delivered.

If this offer had been made a month or two from now, i'd have so taken you up on it. Oh well.

The fairly obvious question to ask is: If it's so good, why are you parting with it? :) I assume you just need the money, rather than there being a specific problem with the monitor.

Well I waited for months and months for a 17" widescreen that I could afford. My patience ran out and I bought this one and then they go and release a blinkin' widescreen version (the 172W)!!!

Anyway, despite being virtually brand new I am going to suck up the difference and buy a 172W, because it was my original intention to get something along those lines.

Have you ever seen one of these? The image quality is quite stunning (especially via the DVI port).

I haven't seen that particular model, but i've seen a number of new-ish 17" LCD screens on DVI in Windows use, and they've always impressed me - Very sharp, particuarly in contrast to this 17" CRT, which is frankly crap. Curved screen, poor colours... blergh.

Been meaning to replace it for a while, was just waiting for a batch of 16ms TFTs to come through (which is happening now). My only remaining concerns are ghosting and poor contrast, e.g. dark areas in games. I know people say that ghosting is really a non-issue with the newer screens, but i'm forever haunted by all the laptop screens i've seen, which show terrible ghosting. I guess laptops and proper TFTs aren't comparable though.

There really is no ghosting at all with this screen (using the DVI port - might be some very minor streaking via DB15). I had a look at some of the Hitachi (low response time) screens and they are vastly inferior in terms of picture quality.

Never noticed it in any game and there is no streaking/ghosting when you scroll text either. Even white on black.

I assume you're talking about this btw:

I've yet to work out why people want widescreen monitors. Aside from some media work, i see no real advantage - You're stuck in an obscure resolution for windows, and games have got to suffer too.

The 172W isn't on the UK Samsung site either, from what i can see. Importing has got to be painful on the wallet

It's available in the UK for about 450 - actually less than I paid for this, lol. I'm at uni so compact, dual-purpose DVD/desktop use is a must. Only thing is that picture quality won't be quite as good due to the larger dot pitch, but that doesn't matter for DVDs.

Make me an offer. :)

Lol, as i said - one or two months down the line, i could/would have. But i need to see whether i'm going to get this job i've applied for first :)

Wouldn't be right to string you along.
