Hi,
I have this weird problem with my card. I bought it yesterday, installed and everything looked thine. But after installing Catalyst 7.8 my screen disapear. After the fist screen when Windows XP is looding I should have Welcome Screen, but my LCD monitor go to sleep mode. After hard reboot the screen appeared but I had only 8bit color or 4 bit and 640x480 resolustion. Then I tried drivers from CD. I don't know which version for XP are on this CD, but I has Vista drivers packed so I assume it's Catalyst 8-31-100-3-2 so 8.31? But with this pack of drivers I always had my monitor go to sleep.
I have Abit NF7-S mobo on nForce2 Ultra 400 and I fount this on XP
Input/Output Range 03B0 - 03BB used by:

it's resources tab for uninstalled device which is of course the card. I thought that this is some kind of problem but after I remind I have CRT monitor so I hook it up and install the drivers 7.8. I had screen for CRT but not for LCD. It looked like this http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/1641/radeon2lh6.th.jpg (http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=radeon2lh6.jpg) but I didn't have this information about resources anymore. So it didn't look to good and setting for my LCD were 8bit 680x480 don't know what refresh rate, but I wasn't able to change anything. I mean setting for my LCD. I tried running Oblivion. I heard the sound from Intro etc, but no screen. Oblivion was running as I had it on bar and in tast manager. After few second it crashed.
Any idea what's wrong?
On Vista I had the same problem. Installing drivers and no screen afterwards. I had restored my system and in device manager I had Standard VGA Graphics Adapter with exclamation mark with message: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."
I other devices there are PCI Input Device (I guess it's VIVO?) and Video Controller.
I've run MSINFO32 tool and I have those conflicts
