Hi All,
I have a problem with X starting up porperly only the first time - after that it won't run properly - it tries to start but fails, removing nvidia and agpgart modules and trying again does not help, but the modules do reload.

here is the log:

This sounds like the bug a couple of people are experiencing where the driver only recognizes like 2MB of video RAM.

I don't know of a solution -- last I heard, nVidia was "looking at it".

hummss...

i can't figure out why it always works when i first start X but when restarting it fails.

thanks!

The first attempt works? That's odd...

Is your kernel logging messages from NVRM about freeing X number of pages whenever you exit X (the first time)? For example, when I startx, I get "NVRM: AGPGART: allocated 16 pages", then when I exit, I get "NVRM: AGPGART: freed 16 pages". Maybe your page counts are mismatched or something?

hello,
what you are saying is exactly what i am thinking... but there is nothing in /var/log/messages besides this:

pbharris -- try either copying or symlinking your /usr/lib/libGL.so file into the SoF directory. My guess is that it's not looking in /usr/lib for it, but rather somewhere in its own directory tree. Not positive, but it's worth a shot.
