I have a nForce MCP Networking Adapter in my AMD Athlon/hp computer, and i'm trying to run Mandrake 9.0.
The problem i'm having is the same as the one darkmind is having here (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4840&highlight=nforce+network) and here (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9366&highlight=nforce+network).

eth0 won't come up, and i cannot connect to the LAN.
First i tried the rpm for Mandrake 9.0. it seemed to install fine, but i could not connect to the LAN. Then i followed the very excellent instructions here (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9541&highlight=nforce+network).
the make and make install went off without a hitch, but i still cannot bring up eth0. lsmod shows the nvnet module loaded, but with a use count of 0.
Any suggestions? I'm not sure where to go from here.

edit: forgot to add, the command "ifup eth0" fails with error message:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Resource temporarily unavailable

I'm not sure what this signifies :(
edit2: the first link was broken

You are suggesting i try mdk9.1 opposed to 9.0? I don't believe this would have helped. darkmind, from the links i posted above, tried 3 or 4 different distributions.

I managed to solve the problem though. Booting into bios i changed:
Plug and Play OS [YES]
to
Plug and Play OS [NO]

and it was able to bring up my nvnet. darkmind if you still read this forum, i suggest trying that.
