One thing I have noticed with updates (and updating in general) in vista is it searches and gets al updates for your components. It just updated my drivers for my 7600gt.

Awesome.

u like that feature, I hated it. It would try to install some drivers for my trendnet usb adapter and then my wireless would stop working. I had to reinstall the drivers from trendnet to get it wroking again.

That's interesting. I haven't had any problems...yet. Hopefully I won't.

I have it set so that it asks me what to install. On my HTPC I had it set to automatic and it "updated" the nvidia ethernet controller resulting in the computer locking up anytime I plugged in a cable to the network port. Rolled back that driver and voila, fixed.

Thats how I have mine. I even have it so they won't download. I just look them over and see what I want/need and go from there.

Well that was odd, I got a few updates today, for Vista x64.. after the reboot, my X-Fi didn't work anymore. I noticed my X-Fi settings were changed back to default.

I turned my computer off, and back on.. and now it works again.

Completely strange!

I wouldn't install any drivers from Windows update unless they were known to fix a major problem. I've heard nothing but bad things about windows update driver installs.
