After I boot into Vista or bring it out of screen saver, I have to go into the nvidia control panel and move the brightness slider to make it go back to the settings. Are there any drivers that don't have this problem? I'm having this problem with the 163.44s and 163.50s.

Anyone have any ideas? It's very annoying.
I haven't had that trouble since an early set of betas just after vista launch.
Using the 162.50s now, had the 163.44s on til this morning, no problems.

Strange. It does it on my home computer (8800gtx, 163.44 Vista x64) and on my work computer (8600GT 162.50 Vista x64)
That's weird. I can't remember the version that gave me that trouble, but I do remember it also carried game settings over to desktop, brightness and gamma, also. Only a reboot would restore my desktop settings. It was teh suck.
Right now I have 162.50 on vista, 8800GTS.
92.72 (I think) on XP, 6800GT
2 linux pcs running Nvidia drivers,
All working as advertised. Are you using any third party apps that are over riding your nvcp settings?

Yeah, when I play a game the gamma doesn't change when i close it. This is very irritating........
All I have installed is rivatuner, but it was doing it before I installed it.
Personally, I would uninstall, do the safe mode and driver sweeper routine, then before booting back into normal, manually search sys32, sysWOW and both x86 and 64bit program folders for any left over bits.
Something else, when I uninstall I do it from the device manager now. It seems much more thorough than NVs uninstaller.

I always do the usual routine, uninstall, safe mode, driver cleaner, etc...
I just reinstalled Vista x64 yesterday and it's still happening. (162.50s)
On two different computers...I'm out of ideas CaNiBuS..sorry I couldn't help ya. :o
