so i have had my fun with my 360 i was playing a game and it froze after that i canīt get nothing no icture just a hummming noise and red light also knowon as circle of death or so.

so i knew it could go dead didnīt expect it to do so anyways it has, so is ELite as fragile as these older 360īs or is it a super 360 that canīt die as easy as these white 360īs??

so i still like the 360 but **** a new one costs round 4200SEK swedish kronor

so i am little dare or not to buy a new one perhaps it dies after 2years or so

adn i donīt use my 360 that much but now when i turn it on it humms bu i get no picture and the redlights are there.

is it the cable to my tv or so damn it i want my 360 back ****in microsoft piece of asshole retards canīt do anything right:mad:@$MS

so is the EIlte any better or is it as 50-50 chance

havenīt heard of any PS3īs that has gone dead since launch

It depends. The older Elites had the same chipsets/heatsinks as the Premiums and Cores, the newer ones have the improved heatsinks though.

There are so many older units lying around in warehouses that it may be difficult for you to track down an improved one, but if you just send your current 360 in for repair you're pretty much guaranteed to get one of the improved models.

erll the ELITE (black) was recently realesed in Sweden so it should be newer than this premiums and core that htey sell with game bundle

so this new black ELITE is it better than the faulty ones?

Every single 360 in existence now will eventually die. This is what happens when you cut corners.

so i should cut my losses and stick with me PC and PS2 then?

since PS3 is way too expensive and has way too expensive games as do 360
but 360 has a wider selection of games and PS3 will get a large amount games but most are way into 2008 so seems i am **** out of luck then

They did extend the ring of death warranty for 3 years. Thats why I got one. If you have an elite shouldn't it be covered especially in Europe? Hell I hear they even send you guys new ones because of the laws there. My bro has had 4 refurbs.

The warranty from Microsoft is for 3 years for the "ring of death" thing from the 360, so you can get yours replaced free.

S.I.N. you will eventually die, I guess someone cut corners.

I'm surprised every minute mine stays on and doesn't RROD on me. I will NEVER buy another MS console after this fiasco.

I really feel for MS, the 360 could have been a really good console if not for this issue. As it stands the 360 has some great games but really is sub par. I am still thankful the red light fairy has not visited me.

I went through 4 Xbox360s. Never had the "ring of death," but always just had the optical drives failing.

I never plugged my 360 into a surge protector, so that could be the issue with many.

Haha, there was actually a somewhat clever quote on the comments of that article.

"That's why they call it the 360: From MS to your house and then back to MS"

Yeah, hardware reliability is really the ONLY negative thing that comes to mind regarding the console. Microsoft really has done a good job taking care of it, such as by extending the warranty to 3 years...but even so, they now have a bad rep when it comes to hardware quality. That reputation will likely haunt them for a while, especially considering how widespread the failures are.

The problem with the rrod isn't due to that, it is a problem where the contacts between the main chips (usually the scaling chip) heat up and separate from the mainboard. This is why when you get a rrod you loose your video as well. IMO this is completely the fault of MS going to the lowest bidder without good enough quality control and so they got shoddy manufacturers.

On the bright side I'm positive MS has figured out what the issue is, sadly it is going to take a while till all the crap units clear out of the system.

As a avid 360 supporter, I agree with that statement. The failure rate of 360's is going to be a **** stain on MS for quite a while. Assuming MS is correct in their projections 95% of faulty 360s will have crapped out before Christmas 2008.

Thing is even the new systems are having issues... Look at the Elites, they are continuing to crap out along side the original boxes...

The Elites didn't have the new heatsinks at first though, did they?

I'm pretty sure all new 360s are equipped with the new heatsink near the GPU, but I don't believe the Elites had them at first.

Mine died recently too, but the ordeal was over pretty quick--they mailed me a previously fixed one rather than have me wait for mine to be fixed.

thatīs why i thought the new black ELITE was improved just to avoid these kind of things like drive failure and RROD since it costs so much more than the "old premium" does i mean yhtow away 4000 on a new 360 then it go die on me it isnīt worth it as i see it and that is sad since so many great games are coming and before PS3 is there well it takes some time and the price on the bugger isnīt going to drop in any nea future i am **** out of luck :(

ASUSEN7900GTX

well i donīt know when these elites was made but here in sweden we just go tthem with that 120gb disk unit sonīt know if that makes them any more new and if they have that heatsink to avoid RROD either so question is should it ake a chance and by a new 360 and hope for the best.

well that HALO3 editin is pretty cool too bad the game wasnīt included though

It should say the date it was manufactured on the back right next to the serial number.

But anyway, I don't think it's too big of a deal anymore with the 3 year coverage and quick turnaround... fear of getting a hot 360 shouldn't be discouraging anyone from buying one now.

Buying a console used/second hand is of no concern to the 360 warranty. I would always suggest trying to get the console fixed for free first, then as a last resort buying a new one. Why spend money when you don't have to?
