I guess it's a good thing I sold my PS3 and got a Wii. (nana2)

Edit: The rating just disappeared??? Now it says "NR."

Edit 2: Ok, the score is back up.

have they posted up a review yet or they just gave it a score?

Nope, still there. 4.9, ouch.

You might think I'm being too hard on Lair, but if you do, you clearly haven't played this game. Although there are levels where wide-open environments and spread-out objectives trick you into thinking the Sixaxis stuff isn't that bad, whenever a handful of enemies are on screen, your flight space becomes limited or you need to be precise, this game falls apart.

So sad :(

Game looked so good, will still be getting it.

Spoudazo, yeah because Red Steel was such a great game right? Oh wait you like Cooking Mama...

No, the only game I have is the free one, Wii Sports. :D

I'd also still have a 360 if I didn't go through so many.

Man, that is brutal. Sounds like the controls killed the game. I'd imagine there are some big-shots at Sony grinding their teeth after seeing the Heavenly Sword and Lair reviews.

I hope Uncharted doesn't disappoint.

I actually had high hopes for Lair but its getting bad reviews left and right. Not a blind buy anymore but I still may get when it hits $20.

This game looks just like Drakengard.

This is quite disappointing. I was looking forward to this title. So far 2 exclusives haven't lived up to the hype. Hopefully Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Ratchet and Clank will have better results.

I think they really downplayed the control issues in their previews; in one of the earlier builds, IGN said that the controls only needed a tad of touching up... I don't see why they wouldn't have been more harsh in their previews so that the developers would actually feel compelled to fix it.

Eh, but I guess the cons of games are downplayed quite a bit in all previews... not sure why though.

Eh, Uncharted and Ratchet are from developers who have proven themselves time and time again. I'm not really worried about those two games.

I'm curious as to why F5 wouldn't let players turn off motion sensing and use the sticks.

Thats why I rarely listen to sites opinions and make my own... In most previews they praise a game and then trash talk it on its review... If they would be harsh while the game was in development maybe the developer would have listened to the feedback...

Just looked through some more of the previews, and this is from October 2006 one:
Even so, Lair has a lot of promise, and of all the full-on PS3 games we've played so far, is one of the most dedicated to using the tilt function of the SIXAXIS controller.

And from July of this year:
As a result, Lair is surprisingly easy to pick up and play, and piloting your dragon in the heat of a battle - with swarms of enemies bombarding you from every angle - becomes simple with practice. They're responsive too, and moves such as the quick 180-degree turn, executed by jolting the pad up, means that dogfighting soon becomes second nature.

Fantastic reporting

Because they want to get the exclusive preview. The devs let them get the preview, so they feel more compelled to speak highly of it.

Thats why its ****ing stupid to listen to their opinions. From what I have been reading on the forums the controls aren't as bad as what they claim and that the game is actually pretty fun.

I will pick it up tomorrow on the way to work and give you all my impression. I know it wont be the greatest game but I don't think its as bad as the review says it is.

^lol

Normally, I've found that user reviews are good barometers of the worth of a game.

"Professional" critics, though? No.

Indeed, it just tells us that previews are worth nothing, nothing at all.

I can't believe they would sink millions into the game, make it look and sound that good, then release it with completely messed up controls... I mean, wouldn't you think it would be worth their time to fix that up and get more sales?

That said, Game Informer gave this a 7.5 I think, so maybe IGN is just being cranky. I remember they gave Overlord a really low score because the reviewer lost his saved game, a glitch not known to happen in the retail release.

I dunno, when they throw in stuff like "The bubbling cauldron of hate this game has created inside of you." that about sends me running in the other direction...

Metroid Prime 3, Wii Sports, and the Virtual Console are more than enough to justify the purchase of the Nintendo Wii.:D

I'm kinda happy because it saved me $60. :D I'm so broke that I can't really afford to buy more games lol

I'll probably buy it later... after hearing you guys' impression.
