Well, there are more than a few of us who have tried out the Freezone. Some of us are still using it and others have abandoned the product altogether. It is a decent concept, but the Coolit, in stock form, is a little lacking.

I made some modifications to mine with the most important change being the 92 to 120 mm adaptor and high capacity, sub 20 db, 120 mm fan. Those two items, a $20 investment, really improve the system performance. I also used a spare CPU block I had laying around, but that part did not really do much aside from allowing me to use the stock 775 mounting apparatus.

Performance is now improved by about 10C at idle and load. So, a pretty good change. Details can be found here (http://www.realworldgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2454).

I've shied away from these due to problems folks have had, but this makes me reconsider. Nice work! :)

weaksauce. if you want to go sub-ambient then either really do it or not. I just got my rebuilt vapochill from my buddies at Team Next Gen (world class overclocking group). They completely overhauled it for quad level cooling performance (new condenser, new evap head and enclosure, R507). Hell, my phase unit is weaksauce compared to a cascase unit but at least it can pull down a quad to well below zero without kicking the bucket.

A cooling system that mounts like a regular HSF, silent, requires no insulation job, and cools better than good water is something I'd love to have.

Sounds like we are getting there.

This would more than meet my needs. Hopefully Coolits next version will take something like this into consideration.

+2. I am not a big overclocker but I would be interested in that as well.

I wanted one pretty badly til reports started filtering in. But Heavy is the first I've seen that posted a good solid fix and results. I'm sure others have, I just never looked.

I may reconsider now....

Well I came across this thread right now, and thought I'd add my 2cents to this. After running a freezone on my quad cpu for roughly 4 months here are the results!. I had originally been running it on a x6800 with no problems, then upgraded to a qx6700, that's when the freezone told me.. uh no!, And decided to wash my system with coolant.

I've been in contact with coolit's tech support and after many back and forth call's and emails "most calls not returned I might add!', they have sent me one of there newer units fitted with norprene tubing. Now will I use it? I dunno.. it's still sitting here in the box. In fact once I recieved the new unit I called tech support to ask a question. Left my number and once again.. no call back. Tempted to but unsure after that mess it left me with. So well see..

Some damage shots for your viewing enjoyment!.

I've used mine for a long time and have not had one problem with it.

Doc,

I think dual core is fine, this thing just can't handle the heat output of a quad core cpu basically is what it comes down to.

Gotcha. Before I go quad, I will need to find a good cooling solution.

Ouch, did it fry anything?

You know what suprisingly it didn't.. I mean it was a mess to clean up but everything was fine aside from a few blue stains! :(

Mine has been working fine so far for several months, I love it.

I'd stay the hell away from the Freezone or any of Coolit's crap, I've seen a couple of threads on XS where the thing almost caught some member's house on fire. Shoddy product, I wouldn't trust it for anything.

I have had my Freezone for almost one year on a QX6700 @ 34*-44* load. I had the fan burn out on me, but was sent a new one within 5 days to Hawaii.
Can't beat the ease of a small, fast to install unit

I'm reviving this old thread because shortly, I will be going quad, and wanted to get more opinions from those that have a Feezone/Q6600 setup.

Is it working the way it is supposed to? Or do you think I need to look for another solution?

I love it.

CPU is sitting at 19c-20c on idle. I have checked it while gaming and never had CPU temp go anywere near 30c, usually around 25c after a gaming session of CoH or LoTRO.

They also make the same unit but for GPU's now. I have no clue how you fit basicly two of those units in a case, 1 for CPU and 1 for GPU.

That's comforting to know. I got a striker board coming to me, and I will buy the cpu (Q6600) tomorrow.

Nice !

It was pretty easy to install and works great imo

The Striker is a very nice board, you will love it. If you haven't ordered RAM yet I would take a look at http://www.xtremesystems.org/ and checkout what they are using. And do not flash to SE1305 BIOS hehe, read my other post about what happend to me :)

Yea...I read that post. I am planning on using the RAM I got in my sig....

This is the review I found before I purchased the Freezone.

Before you get the Freezone, check out Coolit's website. You can now order a Freezone Elite ( which is better for Quads or the one I ordered the Boreas System, for cpu and 8800gtx. On top of that you get a 30% discount trade-in allowance on there own systems or other watercooling systems.
