I know that X-Fi Xtreme Audio is basically a fake X-Fi, as it does not have same advanced DSP as "adult" cards, does not have ASIO 2.0, does not have EAX HD 5.0, no 24/192.

Do you know which chipset it is actually based on? Old Audigy? Seems even Audigy 2 is better than this "X-Fi"...

I'm not sure why it dosnt have the heatsink the xtreme gamer and others do, but as far as I can tell, its "the" x-fi dsp, and not the software based x-fi solution found on that $25 x-fi card.

Live 24bit 7.1, Audigy SE/LE, Xtreme Audio, etc.

They all use the CA0106 chip. No hardware acceleration whatsoever.
A big step down from the old EMU10K1 even (SB Live!, Audigy, Audigy2/4, etc.)

It's *not* a real EMU20K1 X-Fi chip.

I don't know where you got your info from jeffmd.

3rd edit: Ok, think I just got majorly confused here. I thought the xtremegamer and audio were the same thing, but it appears the xtremegamer is using the new chip. I'm not gonna tear off the heatsink, but the chip is using the raised BGA chip that the CA20K1 is supposed to be on. Bleh... time to go put it back in my pc now ^^

Ive seen an x-fi in my local second hand pc shop that is being called an Xtreme Audio ,It has a black heatsink , Have they labelled it right?

this pic of the Audio has no such sink.

I guess I could just get it and have a look to see what chip shows up ,They let you return anything hardware within 24 hours.

I returned my stripped down software EAX version Audigy SE (which is what the X-Fi Xtreme Audio is based on) and got myself a real X-Fi. The one with the front panel.

I cant see ASIO 2.0 /EAX HD 5 or any of that though

Probably an old revision (CC00)

SHOULD I KEEP IT? THE CLOCK IS TICKING!!!!

It may be an Xtreme Music, but I'd have to look at my own card to compare. The Xtreme Music is a real X-Fi.

Also, sorry for reviving a 4 year old thread.

I tried to get a picture but it's too high up on my mobo for my camera. I got a picture of the serial sticker on the back and it's SB0460. It's the same size as the fat one. XtremeMusic 7.1.

ATOJAR, yours is different. Not sure what it would be.

Heh yea when I saw the name of the OP I knew right away it was an old thread. ATOJARs card is the lowest model X-Fi. It's really easy to tell because of the absence of gold connectors on the back of the card.

It should be an ExtremeGamer. Here is a nice little list of which product IDs are which.

SB0460 is an X-Fi Platinum.
