hey everybody
i am quite new to linux and wanna find out how to play games. now i know all that stuff about wine and i got wine installed (winex does not work, long story). but with wine there is all that hassle with all the dlls and this and that is never working, you knowl, so my question is: is there another way? i heard there was linux patches or packages that make games installed in win able to run in linux...
is there patches for morrowind ut2003 or unreal2?
thanks everybody

not sure about morrowind, you could always check transgaming.com

However, UT UT2003 both have native clients for them, same as Quake 1 and up and RTCW

ID software has the patches for their games, and UT is at loki games.

UT20003 I believe comes with the 3rd cd

Unreal 2 has no native port, no. Apparently they didn't think it necessary to make the minor changes necessary to do it.

However, if you look on your 3rd UT2k3 CD, you will find the Linux installer. This is a native installer, no emulation necessary. Seems to work pretty well, too.

Morrowind, also, has no native support.

UT (the original) has a few installers available on Loki's FTP site (which is still up, even though Loki has been gone for a while). There's also www.tuxgames.com, where you can buy quite a few Linux games. Doom 3 will have a native client, but that's because Id is cool that way. ;)

RtCW also has a native installer, if you can install it in Windows first to get the .pk3 files.

There are native ports of every Quake in existence, as well.

There are tons more, too. Search around TuxGames, and also www.linuxgaming.net, www.linuxgames.com, and www.icculus.org -- the last one has acquired most of Loki's assets, like rights to the Loki installer and such. They also work on SMPEG and similar libraries for game developers.
