I'm using a GeForce2 MX 400 card with a athlon XP 2200 on a KT400 mobo. I using telinit 3 to get out then install nvidia latest driver (with sh), I modify nv to nvidia in /etc/X11/XFree86Config-4 and then use startx.
after that it only shows some dots on the bottem screen and my keyb and mouse hang completely (even numlock can't be turned on or off). I then uninstalled the driver and modified the config file again, but now it won't even get X working with the nv driver as it had before.)
right now I'm using lynx to post this message, I hope the log and config file get through.

Does disabling AGP allow you to start X?

nope

added: 'Option "NvAgp" "0" '

same result (should I use NvAGP in stead of NvAgp ?)

has it something to do with the fact that I'm using a AGP 4x card with the KT400 (that has AGP 8x support) in BIOS I have set 4x and 64M...

nope: mdk9.0 with previous or latest drivers doesn't work
just to let you know...

so this is probably a KT400 related problem
I really want this to work out. so until you have this sorted out, I guess the nv drivers will have to do...

I also have a KT 400 with a GF4 Ti4200 and I also have this Problem. I use Suse 8.2 Pro and have the same problem but i found a way to get acces to Linux by booting the Linux OS with VMWare Virtual Machine. This uses internal grafic card drivers and on next reboot i can acces the grafikal system. But i don't know, what to do, to get this driver working.

I've Linux for 3 days and i am not familiar with it and sorry for my english.
