PCI EXPRESS 2.0 Questions

In preparations for me buying 2 NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTXs in SLI,

Will I also need to buy a new motherboard that has PCI Express 2.0 slots, or are they backwards compatible with PCI Express 1.0?

AKA Not much!

2.0 doubles the per-lane bandwidth over 1.0. AFAIK, nothing (in the way of consumer products, at least) comes close to stressing the bandwidth on a 16x 1.0 connector.
