Well I've been out of the upgrade loop for a while now, and I'm looking to get some new kickass hardware this summer.

My question is this: I have a Hercules Game Theater XP sound card and love it, if I upgrade to an nForce2 should I go with Soundstorm or stick with the GTXP?

I personally am leaning toward the GTXP. My reason for this is that I have a home stereo that I can hook up to the card with input/output so that I get two extra great-quality speakers plus I get to use the 51-CD changer and radio tuner from the stereo. Is it really worth losing that functionality for better quality audio?

Do you use headphones when gaming?

If so, check if you can still use them with Nforce2.

Currently, I miss by TB Santa Cruz. :(
I didn't need to spend an extra $100 just to use headphones.
The VersaJack is teh bomb!!

Oh my Logitech Z560s have a headphone port on them if the nForce2 doesn't...the thing I'm most worried about is losing my stereo connectivity.

I'd say stick with the GTXP. I've got one too and I love it now that they finally got decent 2000/XP drivers for it. But then, I haven't heard SoundStorm to compare audio quality to, either, so I'm a bit one-sided.

I'm one sided for the soundstorm....I guess the best I could say within reason is no harm trying it. Never tried the GTXP over here.
www.3dss.com has an nForce audio review that could give you a quality note on soundstorm no doubt, even with headphones.
nforcershq forums could give you some more info (sounds like the A7N8X Deluxe has an audio issue that ticks some people off)
