PS3 Cables

Alright so we got my brother a PS3 for his birthday (tonight), and one of my brothers said it does not come with any cables to hook it up to the TV. Sounds like BS to me. I could believe it doesnt come with HDMI cables, but does it include the old A/V or composite cables at all?

It includes regular RCA cables, red white and yellow.

But no HDMI and no component, just composite.

The biggest selling point of the console is that it is HD, yet they don't even include component cables with the 80 GB package. I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but it still makes me say.... WHAT THE (F Bomb)???

Yeah it's kind of silly, but my tv came with two HDMI cables so it didn't bug me one bit.

Personally (see other thread in a few minutes) I'd take the PS3...because the PS3 at least works. More than can be said for the other two systems.

Just a heads up. Don't buy any of those expensive HDMI cables. You can get cheap ones from www.monoprice.com which are just as good as the expensive ones.

No. ALL of the $100 cables are rip offs, unless you looking at some very long cable.

That's not always 100% true. Some companies make better ends than other's. I had the MS VGA cable and it wouldn't connect correctly so my video kept look all funky and then I bought the Monster brand cable and all is well.

Yes most of the time $100 cables are pointless. I always but the cheaper first and give it a go. 90% of the time you'll be happy with them but ocasionally the higher priced cables are nice to own.

I'll agree that occasionally a cheap cable will cause problems.

Yeah, basically a cable is a cable. Usually the only real reason for a price difference is the brand name on the package. If expensive cables make much of a difference, I've never noticed.

Yeah that's all I'm saying. But for the most part you are right, always go with a cheaper cable especially with HDMI because it generally makes no difference. Just occasionally.

P.S.

Can't wait to get mine hooked up, I got it yesterday but I need a switch box to get it all hooked up. It's so shiny looking at me just begging to be played. :) Although it picks up dirt to easily, have to buff it a lot. I'm a neat freak! :)

I go with the cheapest HDMI cables if I ever have to get them. Only if the cable has a short or is too resistive is there a problem. But only get the cheapest HDMI cables you can. Best way to go. Never get "premium" HDMI cables because it's purely %100 a rip-off and nothing else.

Im using the HDMI cable that came with my samsung upscaling hd-dvd player. works a treat ;) and im guessingf its only a cheap cable.
