Not tremendously impressed so far. The vegetation looks fairly good (though a good deal of it looks to be about on par with Oblivion), texture resolution is only so-so, and the lighting leaves something to be desired. HDR looks surprisingly good, though.
Seems like performance at these quality settings isn't particularly stellar, either, but it's hard to gauge.
Specs please.
I tried to shoot branches but they dont break, tried different guns, still same thing. I think they are disabled in this build or im just doing it wrong. HAving said that, this multiplayer demo is pretty badass, its a million times better than farcrys multiplayer.

Yea I just tried to break branches but they wont. They shake and stuff but dont break. The leafs move around me when I walk thru them.

Pfft. If there's no DX10 available, then this beta is useless. That's been the center of all its hype.
Not impressed by the DX9 screens. Looks like a souped-up version of FarCry.
Crytek may still be waiting on a good DirectX 10 update and good DX10 drivers.

How do you get movable vegetation?
If you still dont have it go in your game text file in mp beta folder and make sure your ... e_vegetation_bending = 1/2/2/2/2 says just that.
1=off 2=on 1/2/2/2/x x= number to be ajusted.

Mine says that and I don't have movable vegetation......or really any physics at all.....boxes don't move, barrels don't move, etc.
Nvidia and Crytek made a deal: Crytek purposely optimizes the beta poorly, but just enough so it's playable and teasing, then when the G90s hit the shelves in November, every guy and his dog will be picking one up in order to play Crysis "the way its meant to be played".
Nah, just a possibility but I doubt it, I'm just a little disappointed with the performance :) but then again, it's a beta.
So how do I force the game to keep the "high" settings? As soon as I set it in the optinos menu and go to an internet game it all defaults to "low".

they've already said they don't have good dx10 drivers! the ones they have consistently crash the game after a bit.
You guys are crazy or blind, DX10 IS in the beta. Just right click it in the Vista Games Explorer and the second option is "Play DX10". It makes it run a little worse but a lot of the textures and lighting look better. I can't get AA working in DX10 or DX9 in game though, I might try forcing it in drivers.

Although it says low, it really is high settings. If you set it to low and apply you will see a significant decrease in quality.
I retract my prior statement saying moving vegetation doesn't work. It does. But it's not destructible. Oh and I got AA working. Sweeeeet!

LOL, good thing you found that....
I am not sure DX10 is actually being used though since all the DX10 games I have played there is a black background behind the FPS counter in FRAPS and this one doesn't have one.

Hmm, I don't get that in Bioshock DX10. I'm fairly certain it's DX10 though, as there's a definite framerate and quality difference.

It's probably like it was with Far Cry. The Multi player graphics/Maps etc were significantly reduced compared to the single player portions of the game.
I mean there was a huge difference between single and multi in terms of visuals.
Even in the texture detail. Far less vegetation quality etc. Go check it out again if you have it installed.
Well on the beta feedback forums there is a reference to one of the Crytek guys named Alex stated the beta was only DX9. Either way the beta runs crappy for me - FPS around 30 at 1920x1200 with dips into the upper teens at times. I hate to see how the top settings run like.

Hell, I'd be happy just to run the game at 1024x768 (1366x768 really).

I'm pretty sure it's still only running in DX9 mode.......if you check the game log after you quit it only shows the DX9 renderer being loaded. Nothing about DX10.

30FPS on your system? :headexplode: ... wow did you check to see if there is a SLI profile?

Its NOT dx10. Check your g15 keyboard under fraps. It shows DX9.
And as I said before I tried to force DX10 and it was missing files.
