i tried orthos for 20mins stable no errors. (temps reached 69c)

3dmark2006 no crash also.

Thats a little to hot dude, your Thermal Specification is 61.4c as stated by intel. (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLA3F) you need an after market cooler in a big way. Also 3dmark2006 is not a good way to test your CPU for stability as it does not push the CPU long enough or hard enough.

As a rule of thumb you should run Orthos on Small FFT's for a min of 6hrs with no errors before you can really consider your chip stable.

Mahubuay pare!

My 3.2Ghz OC on my e4400 was stable too for 1-2 hours in orthos but when I started gaming for more than 20 mins say CDirt, Stalker etc...it would crash :(

Seems you are having better luck!! I need to go quadcore now :p

Muya kumusta!? :)

played stalker a few minutes ago (2hours) no problems but my cpu temp reached 55-59c.

i'm also running my team elite ddr2 800 @960 1.9v 5-5-5-15 ...no problems whatsoever :)

i think i got lucky with my cpu and rams. :D

@SILVEREGTS

i need a cpu cooler badly :D ...maybe a scythe andy will do. :)

That doesnt make sense at all unless you were not running Small FFT's for maximum stress on the CPU to test for stability.

Small FFT's in either orthos or p95 stress your cores far more than any game on the planet right now so if your stable there then no way will gaming make your CPU become unstable.

Small FFT's stress the CPU the most while Large FFT's are for the ram.

Have you ran Memtest to check for stability on your ram?

http://www.hcidesign.com/memtest/

Run 2 copies of it.

well for the meantime i dont wanna do long stress tests at the moment coz i have no good cooler yet. i dont wanna kill my cpu/rams/mobo just yet.

Si gee pa!

I think you got a decent OC'ing CPU and your memeory seems to be holding up!

Even with my Zalman 9700CU I cannot get it stable at 3.2 GHZ.

I might get a Thermalright ultra 120 extreme next to try that but..maybe i will go for quadcore...who knows! ;)

I know it's a bit weird, I think it might be the north bridge, maybe I need to up the voltage on that...have you any tips. I have Gigabyte P35C mobo!

Your not gonna kill your ram or your cpu by running memtest.

You see, to many people now a days Overclock and never do a thorough testing for stability on both the ram and Cpu. They think that just because they can boot into windows and play a few games that they are stable and then in a week or two when their windows installation becomes or corrupted or they start having other issues they tend to blame microsoft and everyone else under the sun for their own ignorance.

If your not willing to run any stress test because of Temps etc...then you need to either go back to stock or back your overclock wayyyyy down until you can get better cooling.

I just installed my Quad Core Q6600 G0 stepping today myself! I am using a Tuniq Tower and I have my Quad overclocked to 3.4ghz at the moment prime 95 stable!

Well tell me this, did you stress test your CPU running small FFT's in orthos? if you didnt then I suggest you try that first. You need to let orthos run for at least 6hrs using small FFT's in order to stress your CPU to the max and insure that its 100% stable, just make sure you keep an eye out on the temps.

How much Voltage are you running through your Northbridge and what is your FSB set at?

i'm not planning to maintain this oc. im going to buy first a good cooler of course.

BTW guys im not trying to be a know it all or anything like that, I just have a lot of experience in what a proper overclock should be and I would just like to be able to help out a couple of fellow pc gamers if I can ;)

prime95 small FFTs 15min(62-64c)

Are you running 2 instances of it? you have to run one instance of P95 and check CPU affinity to 0 and then run another P95 and set CPU affinity to 1.

This is the only way you will stress both cores with P95 unless you are running the latest version.

Also just so you know 15 minutes isnt even a fraction of how long you need to let it run:p Min 6hrs small FFT's with no errors is pretty much the rule of thumb when checking for stability.

I did run the small FFT's.

FSB is 333mhz now...northbridge is default voltage. I think I need to increase FSb to hit 3.2GHz due to multiplier limitations

Well what is default voltage on the northbridge? how much VC is that?

And dude your E4400 has a 10X multiplier so all you need in order to hit 3.2ghz is 320mhz fsb. 10X320=3200ghz.
