unfortunately the new installer isn't able to compile and setup under my lfs-linux system. please keep on shipping the tarballs for people beside the mainstream-distributions .....

The installer is basically a wrapper to the tarballs. What problem did you have with the installer?

i'm very sorry, it seems that there's indeed no problem with the installer, installation with the sources also breaks. the installer log shows:

this means that the installer will need to compile a kernel interface for
your kernel.

excuse me again, under my previous system i never had problems with the sources, so i thought everything's ok but the installer ....
martin
Install the which command. Search Freshmeat for the sources.
While you're at it, install mktemp as well -- again, search Freshmeat.
These tools are fairly standard in other distros, but LFS doesn't include a package for either of them by default.
