All,
First I like to thank everyone for all the great information on this board, you folks have been very helpful.

I'm running a stock heatsink and while overclocking to 3.3 @ 1.33vcore running ORTHOS my temp is around 61-64C. My CPU is a GO revision at 2.4GHZ and according to the intel website it has a max temp of 71C, is this correct?
Do you see any problems in my temps and what would you suggest for a good heatsink to purchase to lower my overall temps?

Thanks in advance

3.3 with 1.33vcore? Not bad.. temps are decent especially for a stock heatsink.

If you're to buy an aftermarket cooler, Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme is generally considered the best, but reading the reviews, I don't know.

Tuniq Tower 120 used to be the best.

You will have to invest in an improved cooling solution in order to drop your temps as the stock cooler is just not up to the task at your present overclock. Probably something like the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme or something similar with a good performance 120mm fan.
I should have a better idea by next week. ;)

Tuniq Tower Cpu cooler all the way! I also have a G0 revision Q6600 and even at 1.5vc at 3.6ghz my temps load out at 69c using P95 to stress all 4 cores.

I have my Q6600 at 3Ghz right now, have had it at 3.2. Temps were much as your are with the stock heatsink (60-70C). Moving to my 120 put the load temps to 52-55C max (MoH:A takes it up to almost 60 at times though). Bear in mind I'm running a very open style case which helps a whole lot. :D

Hmmm...thats a bit warmer than what I get with the Tuniq Tower, I was thinking about getting the ultra 120 but Im glad I stuck with the Tuniq.

How much VC are you using at 3.2ghz?

At 3.2Ghz 1.35 I think. 1.3 for plain 3Ghz. Which isn't too bad as my board isn't made for overclocking.

They are warmer due to warm weather here. Probably once summer hits I'll be back down to stock clocks :( Unless I crank the AC right up. :thumbsup:

In winter though at 3Ghz the temps were maxing at 40C and idling at 30 :D

That explains it, I didnt think about the ambient temp differences.

war_child, that OC is very nice for the stock cooler but I'd recommend a better air cooler anyway. The Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme is simply the best cooler out there right now.

Or the Tuniq Tower:)

Sucks for you then. 3.4ghz prime with my Tuniq Tower and my G0 Q6600 is 57c.

Raise the fan speed if possible and make sure you use AS5.

The stock cooler would get a g0 revision pretty far if it was @ 100% speed and as5 was used.

Guess i was lucky, got my GO Q6600 2 days ago and it only needs 1,44v at 3800Mhz, max temp Priming 68c WC. :D

What program could i use to raise the fan speed (Windows Vista 64bit)

I droppped the voltage a little more and still seems stable.

Q6600 @ 3.3
1.32vcore
Idle = 43-47C
Load = 57-61C

I'll remove the heatsink tonight and put some AS5 on :)

I am running a Q6600 B3 Stepping. I am running my system with the stock heatsink and fan.
Idle I am 35-42
Load 55-60.

I have a new TT extreme on order. Hopefully i will get more out of this Chip yet.

You should be able to get to around 3.2-3.3 or so.

I can get 3.2 easily. But with stock cooling it made me nervous. So I am sticking with what I have until the new TT shows up.

Well thanks for everyone's help, I ended up buying a Zalman 9700 NT. Here's my temps before and after, again thanks for everything.

Before = Stock Heat Sink and Fan
idle = 46-48
load = 60-63

After = Zalman 9700 NT
idle = 35-37
load = 49-51

Currently at 3.15Ghz with 1.26Vcore on my G0 :D I am going to be up late tonight pushing this puppy! So far 100% Orthos stable running 2 instances priming 4 cores.

Sounds good, I only needed 1.38vc to get 3.4ghz P95 stable on mine. I never even bothered to test it at anything below 3.4ghz as thats what I immediatly booted it up at. LOL.

I just found if I want to go above 3.2Ghz I need to up the Vcore past stock now. Have yet to find the 100% stable voltage for 3.4Ghz for me yet. I might just run this puppy at 3.2Ghz as it appears to only need slightly above stock voltage to run 100% stable at that speed. Which means lower temps :) What shall I do...

Just remeber, you have up to 71c before you reach the max recommended by intel.

Just keep pushing it if you want to as long as she isnt running to hot. And try to watch the Vcore.
