Hey, I was just looking on newegg, and there apparently is a new 1TB drive from seagate. Has anyone even seen a reivew for this drive?

Also I don't see it mentioned on Newegg, but from a few previews I found this drive should also have AES drive level encryption, meaning the drive itself encrypts the data.

Barracuda FDE is on track to ship in 2008.

This is from the September 5th 2007 press release:

Ohhgg... :drooling:

I didn't know they were already making a 7200.11.

It seems like the 10s just came out, but I guess they are probably 2 years old now.

32Mb cache... mmm...

Oh, and self encrypting hard drives? Screw that... I hope they never make them standard for desktops. That'd make backup and recovery absolute HELL.

QFT!

also its probably going to be useless. Eg it would screw the person trying to recover but anyone you dont want to will probably be able to hack it

It would be great for a business environment, but you can probably turn it on or off. I wouldn't need it for my pc, but if you worked with confidential data it would be great to encrypt the entire drive in the hardware.
