Nothing fixed in 169.01
This is why I keep a older system built just for older games like Gabriel Knight:BOTSBOTD (http://www.mobygames.com/game/gabriel-knight-3-blood-of-the-sacred-blood-of-the-damned) Sanitarium,Grim,System Shock, and Planescape/Baldurs Gate 1+2+TOB,IceWindDale,etc...
Athlon 900,512Mb sdr ram pc133,Abit Abit KT7a mobo,SB Live,Samsung 955DF,TNT 2 16Mb @ 143/160,Plextor 24x cd rom,two 40 Gb Maxtor 5400rpm hd's.Win 98 (NON SE)With Det 6.2's
Every game listed above, and a small army of other older PC titles are installed on it,and guess what ??? They ALL run perfectly.
You guys do realize you can have 4GB of RAM on a 32-bit system, right? It's called Physical Address Extensions. Don't assume because someone has 4GB of RAM that they are running the x64 version of their OS.

Yes, but you don't see many people jumping to do that. Read the section on PAE here:

Lot of interesting information here.
After reading past posts regarding the Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines blurry textures issue, it appears to have been resolved with the 162.x driver release. However, having just installed an 8800GTS 512 and driver 169.25 I can say the issue has returned. :headexplode: Which sucks as I was in mid game and hoping to continue with my new 8800GTS.
My system is similar to many others here: Vista64 Ultimate, 4GB RAM. One difference is VTMB worked fine on this exact system until I got the 8800GTS. Previously I had an ATI x800 256MB card and never had this issue in XP or Vista64 with 4GB RAM. This seems to clearly be an nVidia driver issue.
Regarding some of the other information on 64-bit in this thread - Speaking as someone that tests 32-bit software in 64-bit environments (XP64, Server2003 64, Vista 64, Server2008 64) on a daily basis I can speak to some compatibility issues mentioned here.
Unless your application uses 16-bit code you most likely won't have any issues. It would be unusual for a modern application to use 16-bit programs. Now, if your application was written in the early to mid 90's then chances are there will be some 16-bit calls taking place which of course would fail in a 64-bit environment.
32-bit apps have the potential to address up to 4GB of memory, if they are enabled to do so and do not have to contend with the OS for memory. Many 32-bit apps will only use 2GB of RAM because the /3GB switch in boot.ini is not set (when using 32-bit OS) and or the application is not passing the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag. In a 64-bit environment your 32-bit apps can access the full 4GB 32-bit address space when they are using /LARGEADDRESSAWARE.
So, don't be afraid to take the 64-bit plunge because of all the misinformation passed around by uninformed users. Oh, and if you only have 2GB of RAM, migrating to a 64-bit OS may not be the thing for you, as 64-bit apps have a larger memory footprint resulting in more RAM used by the OS as compared to the same system running 32-bit. I'd say if you have 4GB RAM or more, 64-bit might be worth a look.

Just a heads up as well, I registered just to post this as I hadn't seen it stated. A good temp solution to play these games with the new driver rev's is to open up Msconfig and set the amount of system ram to 3GB or so. Its not ideal, but it beats installing older drivers or pulling hardware.

That's what I've been doing to get Silent Storm and Bloodlines to run perfectly. Not ideal, but it works.

Not as boring as YOUR FACE! Oh, Burn!
