So, with people taking about the UAC slowing down games and others saying it doesnt matter...

Does the UAC bother you and you want it disabled, or do you not mind and just leave it on.

What do you do?

UAC on or UAC off?

I turned it off at the first opportunity. As far as I know it hasn't affected performance or stability one iota.

I turned it off after installed Vista in May 2007 but with UAC turned off caused my programs failed to launched as well games and applications cannot be installed so I then turned it back on and everything worked fine.

I leave it on all the time.

Immediately after installing Vista, I turned UAC off.

I use UAC in what's called a quiet mode, using a util called tweakUAC. You do not get all the annoying allow messages but IE still runs in Protected mode.

i thought that was odd too.

i leave it on on my wife's tablet pc. on my workstation at work its also on, but on my tablet pc, i switch between having it on and off. sometimes i hear that it will affect performance, and other times i dont.

Yea IMO you get the best of both worlds using this util.

I think Tweak-UAC stopped my Speefan loading/saving profiles and reading some sensors ,I could be mistaken.

Thank the good lord! Microsoft needs to make an option for UAC that does this. Now Vista isn't annoying me with UAC prompts. I will bow down before ye, oh great Tweak UAC maker. If ever if you should need me, call upon thee and I shall come. lol

I clicked on the thread and UAC asked for permission.

I had it disabled for a little while, then found STALKER won't run for me without it. I have to rt click and run as admin.

I'm wondering what's been changed in recent updates because I never used to have to do this.

After a few minutes of dealing with UAC, I turned it off. I like the way OS X works with its "UAC" like thing, with the abilities to use a keychain.

Thats really odd. Are you logged in as an Administrator?

I checked my account type in User Accounts, I logged in as administrator. Yes it odd, in the last 3 months with UAC turned on, some setup programs I downloaded failed to launched so I had to do manually run as administrator to get it run properly and one game demo I remember was Tomb Raider: Anniversary setup took about 2 mins to launched but if I manually run as administrator, it instant ran.

is it just me, or is Vista the worst possible thing at copying/moving/deleting large numbers/amounts of files? omg, what a POS.

besides that, it's been good to me.
